PERSONAL AUTOMOBILE RESTRICTED / UNDERWRITER REFERRAL VEHICLE LIST The vehicles appearing on these lists have characteristics that result in concerns for their eligibility for Middlesex Mutual's Automobile Program. The vehicle characteristics are defined by the following categories: • Exotic - Limited production, high value & specialized manufactured vehicles. • High Value - New car value in excess of $80,000. The ISO Symbol Manual identifies these vehicles for model years 1981 to 1989 as symbol 19 or greater and model years 1990 and later as symbol 23 or greater. In addition to price new, consideration is given to the cost of replacement parts. • High performance or older model "muscle cars" - High speed and performance capability, 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds or less and/or top speed of 135 mph or more. • Sport Cars - Generally two seater/passenger vehicles with the design emphasizing handling and acceleration capabilities beyond the needs of every day driving. • High center of gravity vehicles - Higher than average rollover potential and designed for off road use. • High theft vehicles - Consistently the highest frequency rate of partial or total vehicle thefts. Another component of partial thefts is the vandalism exposure that generally is associated with the claim. Other categories of vehicles that are considered an unacceptable class of vehicles are the "Grey Market ","kit", "homemade" and "altered" cars. The "Grey Market" vehicles are foreign manufactured and purchased cars. By nature of these vehicles, parts are difficult to obtain. In addition, the cost of those parts as well as labor is very high and not contemplated in the ISO symbol pricing. Many of these vehicles do not comply with U.S. standards for emissions and safety requirements. Any foreign vehicle where the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) does not match the ISO designated number series likely to be a " Grey Market " vehicle and should be avoided. The "kit", "homemade"' and "altered" vehicles also represent significant liability hazards and should be avoided. - ALL PROGRAMS The following list is intended to serve as a GUIDE ONLY. While these vehicles do have characteristics that may make them ineligible, consult your underwriter PRIOR to binding coverage to discuss the potential acceptability of the vehicle in one of our programs.
