DBS Bank and / AZaaS win Best Branch Automation Award for 2012

• DBS Bank and its technology partner Microsoft/ AZaaS receive Best Branch Automation Project Award 2013 for rolling out cutting edge technology at the NUS Remix branch to attract customers of the future • Despite a smaller branch footprint with a service headcount less than one third that of the average branch, the number of accounts opened per month has been more than half that of an average branch • Over 60 financial institutions from 17 countries across the Asia Pacific, and the Gulf region were evaluated as part of the Technology Implementation Awards Programme 2013

Jakarta, Indonesia, April 24th 2013 – DBS Bank and its technology partner Microsoft/ AZaaS have been named as winners of the Best Branch Automation Award for the year 2012 during the seventh Asian Banker Technology Implementation Awards Programme, held at the Ritz Carlton Kuningan in Jakarta on April 24th 2013. The awards ceremony was held in conjunction with the prestigious award winning Asian Banker Summit 2013, the foremost annual meeting for decision makers in the financial services industry in the Asia Pacific region.

DBS Bank and their technology partner Microsoft were recognised for their innovative use of cutting edge technology and for their use of crowdsourcing as an innovative approach to attract new customers to their new DBS Remix branch at the National University of . DBS has deployed Microsoft PixelSense SUR40, aZaaS 46 inch transparent touch screen table tops and Wincor TAU Cineo 6030 equipment at the branch. In keeping with this futuristic technology, a state of the art glass technology E-queuing system has also been deployed. The Microsoft table top touch screen technology, introduced to attract customers of the future, enables customers to interactively explore product features and benefits with relationship managers while branch staff efficiency has been improved through the introduction of the Wincor automated teller safes with their cash recycling capabilities.

Despite a smaller branch footprint with a service headcount of less than one third that of the average DBS branch, the number of accounts opened per month has been more than half again that of an average branch. Furthermore, the news of the new technology which brings better customer interaction and improved efficiency was crowdsourced to attract new customers; the Facebook fan base grew exponentially from 2,000 before the launch to over 38,000 after the launch.

The awards programme, administered by The Asian Banker and refereed by prominent global bankers, IT consultants and academics, is the most prestigious of its kind. A stringent three month long evaluation process determined the winners from across Asia Pacific and the Middle East. The winners were honoured at a glittering event that recognized their efforts in

using the best technology to run their institutions and bring superior products and services to their customers.
