THE TAP PACK is a high energy, tap comedy show inspired by the infamous “Rat Pack” which included the famous talents of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jnr. With dazzling performances on stage, dressed in slick suits and equipped with sharp wit, The Tap Pack is a modern twist on the classic Rat Pack. They infuse tap dance with swing music and witty banter. The Tap Pack is a taste of a new, highly entertaining act featuring some of Australia’s finest tap dancing performers tapping up a storm. With credits on stage, film and television and with over 20 musical theatre productions between them, The Tap Pack is pure entertainment. They sing. They dance. They joke. They bring a new, invigorating energy to a timeless style. ABOUT THE COMPANY Jesse Rasmussen, Jordan Pollard and Thomas J Egan, having been friends for many years, created The Tap Pack in 2013. The thought came about in a bar and was written down on a napkin. The idea on that napkin was simple; infuse the Rat Pack and Tap Dance. The idea then leapt off the napkin, driven by passion and hard work and started to morph itself into a show that was high energy, full of heart and fostered its unique, Australian take on a classic era of song and dance. Nigel Turner-Carroll jumped into the Pack as Director and Co-Creator and was steering the Pack towards it’s ultimate goal - tip a hat to the legends before us, celebrate our own individuality and be as entertaining as possible! With Kym Halpin on board as Producer, The Tap Pack was ready to venture internationally and with the team complete with a stellar cast, the show has been seen in London, Berlin, Beijing, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, on the high seas and all over Australia. Instead of cleaning up the awards for theatre — where it was virtually snubbed — the company won eight awards in the musical category for its coproduction of Once with John Frost, including best production, director and male and female leads. The MTC, which also won a dance award for its coproduction with Chunky Move, tied with Opera Australia to be the two most successful companies with 10 gongs each. But our flagship theatre company came a distant fourth in the theatre category — behind the Malthouse Theatre, Bell Shakespeare and Red Stitch Actors Theatre — picking up only one award for sound design. It’s highly touted Neon Festival of Independent Theatre also managed only one award in the independent theatre category. Opera Australia’s “Eugene Onegin” won seven awards, including female lead for Nicole Car.

Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: An Analysis into Graphic Design’s Effectiveness at Conveying Music Genres by Vivian Le A THESIS submitted to Oregon State University Honors College in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Honors Baccalaureate of Science in Accounting and Business Information Systems (Honors Scholar) Presented May 29, 2020 Commencement June 2020 AN ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS OF Vivian Le for the degree of Honors Baccalaureate of Science in Accounting and Business Information Systems presented on May 29, 2020. Title: Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: An Analysis into Graphic Design’s Effectiveness at Conveying Music Genres. Abstract approved:_____________________________________________________ Ryann Reynolds-McIlnay The rise of digital streaming has largely impacted the way the average listener consumes music. Consequentially, while the role of album art has evolved to meet the changes in music technology, it is hard to measure the effect of digital streaming on modern album art. This research seeks to determine whether or not graphic design still plays a role in marketing information about the music, such as its genre, to the consumer. It does so through two studies: 1. A computer visual analysis that measures color dominance of an image, and 2. A mixed-design lab experiment with volunteer participants who attempt to assess the genre of a given album. Findings from the first study show that color scheme models created from album samples cannot be used to predict the genre of an album. Further findings from the second theory show that consumers pay a significant amount of attention to album covers, enough to be able to correctly assess the genre of an album most of the time.

In the vein of Stone’s The Wild Duck, a sell-out at both Belvoir and Melbourne’s Malthouse Theatre, Strange Interlude will be completely rewritten. Strange Interlude is one of the few modern plays to use soliloquy interwoven with the dialogue, revealing the characters’ inner thoughts; this technique will be maintained in the rewrite. Twenty-year-old Nina Leeds (Emily Barclay) has lost the love of her life in the war. Overcome with grief, she quits university, falls out with her father and moves away from home. What follows is an epic and compelling narrative that spans 25 years in Nina’s life, but the story is compressed into a series of heightened, life altering moments. The significance of each of these moments is revealed as the page-turning story unravels. The cast assembled for this production is truly stellar, with the luminous Emily Barclay as Nina and Mitchell Butel, Toby Schmitz and Toby Truslove as three men in her life, each vying for her attention and affection in his own way.
