Recruitment for a new Functions Coordinator is progressing well with some potentially good candidates from a field of over 60. Thanks to Russell Campbell for stocktaking our Merchandise. Darren Brisbane, our Sleepover & Education guru is off to Boston, USA from May 22 until September. Darren is undertaking sail training on the Roseway, a wooden gaff-rigged schooner launched on November 24, 1925 in Essex, Massachusetts. She is now restored and listed as a National Historic Landmark. In Darren’s absence, Joanna Bissett and Arwen Seccombe will look after the Sleepover and Education programs with Ana Charlton very kindly taking up the catering challenge for them. HMB Endeavour will be returning to her berth at the Australian National Maritime Museum after visiting several ports around the Australian coast. The tie will have the SHF logo and name, and be blue in colour and the attached is a sample of a design. Before we go to the expense of art work etc I wanted to judge the interest from members.To make it viable we need to purchase 50 ties. Ties will cost $30.00 and will take approx 8 weeks for delivery. Please do not send money yet but please indicate your interest in having a tie. Joan Carter Back to Top Lane Cove Youth Orchestra Castaway promenade concert – music with a nautical drift Wharf 7 Sunday 20 May 1500-1600 All are very welcome to come and hear this talented group play just for us. The program has been kept secret until the day so come and hear what nautical surprises they have in store for us. The orchestra will take part in a James Craig Sleepover the night before. So, in addition to music tuition students will be engaged in maritime activities such as heaving cargo aboard, learning some basic seamanship, navigation and setting a sail. This weekend forms part of their annual overnight camp and intensive music workshop. Music tutorials during the day have been sponsored by Lane Cove Rotary. Complimentary refreshments to follow the concert are courtesy of James Squire Beers, Waterbrook Lifestyle Resort, Greenwich, LCYO and SHF members Donations taken on the day will be divided between LCYO and SHF. Come and hear the future of Australia’s music! No need to book, just turn up.
