I recollect Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh on one occasion urged us to go to our local mosque so that we can sit beside the Messiah of the time, for that is where he sits. The message struck me that our real striving should be to put aside all conflicts of time and relationship and go to our local mosques whenever we are called, specifically to seek the company of the Messiahas. Allah says, ‗take your zeenat to every place of prostration to God’. Regarding the word zeenat, Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh explains its impact: ―the word does not only cover the adornment of the body but also the connotation of enhancing the spiritual loveliness and the sublimation of the beauty of one‘s character‖. [Address to Lajna, Jalsa 6/29/91] Let us go with this zeenat, our wish to learn and to make our Islam strong, to soak up the ways of Allah‘s Messengers. Let us go with forgiveness and tender heartedness, with humility and prayer. In his sermon of 12/31/2010 Hudhuraba said, ―We have accepted the Adam of this age, for God also called the Promised Messiahas Adam. He is the Adam through whom paradise will be established on earth, which means that followers of the teachings of the Holy Prophetsaw will be created. They will be firm on high levels of sacrifices and will do good works and attaining God‘s pleasure will be their viewpoint.‖ Each of us is an important part of our local community and each local community is an important part of our Jamaat USA. When we ourselves and our local communities shine with Allah‘s light and the true teachings of His beloved, Muhammad Mustafasaw, we will be able to spread His message and stir the hearts of others, Insha‘Allah. I wish each and every one of you a blessed, peaceful and productive year. Let us resolve to strive for this by making our local communities alive with our sincerity of heart and our eagerness to serve. May Allah make it so for all of us, Ameen. DIALOGUE & OUTREACH Department OIC Islamophobia Observatory Monthly Bulletin – January 2018 MANIFESTATIONS OF ISLAMOPHOBIA: A. In the United States and Canada: US: Minnesota Republicans under fire for saying Muslims are infiltrating the party— Two Minnesota Republican state lawmakers and a local GOP official were facing scrutiny after they reportedly shared a Facebook post accusing Muslims of preparing to “infiltrate” the party’s caucuses this month. State Reps. Kathy Lohmer and Cindy Pugh, shared the post created by Dave Sina, chairman of the Fourth Congressional District GOP. In the post, Sina said a friend of his had attended a caucus training session held at a mosque by the Muslim American Society. MAS was a nonpartisan organization that promoted civic engagement among American Muslims with local chapters across the US. Sina claimed that Muslims were trying to “infiltrate our republican caucuses on Feb. 6” and that “they didn’t talk about the general election but I am sure they are ahead of us in that as well.” The local party chair played to a sense of hysteria that American Muslims were, and would always be, foreigners who want political influence only to harm the country. San Bernardino County officials will analyze within the next six months the feasibility of constructing a county hospital with a trauma center in the High Desert. It was only one of six recommendations made by the civil Grand Jury in late June in response to a shortage of emergency room beds and hospital overcrowding in this region, but it was the most striking due to the enormity of such an undertaking, likely to cost hundreds of millions of dollars. In a proposed response to the jury’s report expected to be approved by county Supervisors on Tuesday, the officials, acting in their capacity as the governing board of the Inland Counties Emergency Management Agency, say research is required. “This recommendation requires further analysis, specifically a discussion involving the various stakeholders on the costs, feasibility and various possible approaches to addressing the concerns upon which the recommendation is based,” the Supervisors’ response said. The analysis, it continued, will take place within six months of Tuesday, meaning by no later than mid-March. http://www.vvdailypress.com/news/20170911/by-march-supervisors-vow-study-on-high-desert-county-hospital-with-trauma-center 1/3 9/12/2017 By March, Supervisors vow study on High Desert county hospital with trauma center In a conversation following the Grand Jury report’s release, Supervisors Chairman Robert Lovingood, who represents the Victor Valley, described a county hospital as recommended by the jury, similar to that of Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, as “a priority.” “I think it’s absolutely on,” he told the Daily Press at the time.

  • Mold Found in Leased San Bernardino County Buildings Where Workers Complained of Illness
6/12/2017 Mold found in leased San Bernardino County buildings where workers complained of illness San Bernardino County Sun (http://www.sbsun.com) Mold found in leased San Bernardino County buildings where workers complained of illness By Joe Nelson, The Sun Friday, June 9, 2017 Since February, concerns of possible moldrelated illness by San Bernardino County behavioral health employees prompted the filing of 21 workers’ compensation claims and the evacuations and inspections of two leased buildings, a top county official said. On Feb. 14, three employees working at a building at 237 W. Mill St. complained of possible buildingrelated illness and were immediately relocated. They were examined by doctors and none of their symptoms were determined to be related to the buildings or occupational in nature, county spokesman David Wert said in an email. Two days later, on Feb. 16, the county notified the remaining 21 employees working at the building that they would be moved to other county buildings. Four of them were relocated to another leased building at 201 W. Mill St., Wert said in his email. In April, the roof at 237 W. Mill Street was repaired, and an inspector found mold in one room at the location, but not in the air. Mold was also found in a custodial closet at 201 W. Mill St., prompting that building to be evacuated on June 1. The situation has since been remedied, and all employees are expected to return to work at the building at 237 W. Mill St. on Monday, Wert said. “At this point, all mold has been remediated, both buildings have been thoroughly cleaned of any possible remaining particulates,” Wert said in his email.
