Elle Wright had an admittedly easy pregnancy - her scans went well, she and her baby were healthy throughout, and in May 2016, she and her husband welcomed their son, Teddy, into the world. Just a few hours after giving birth, they woke to find a nurse holding a cold and unresponsive Teddy, who had stopped breathing during the night. The happiest day of Elle's life had turned into every parent's worst nightmare, and she had to let her beautiful baby boy go. Three days after delivering him into the world, Elle sat with Teddy in her arms as he took his last breaths, and tucked him in for the final time. Ask Me His Name is a moving account of Elle's pregnancy, Teddy's life, and what happens when a mother leaves a hospital with empty arms. In the UK, 1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss, but conversations about the heartbreakingly frequent issue of baby loss are few and far between. In this honest, beautifully written and hopeful exploration of mothering, Elle explores how she navigated a parenthood that no one had prepared her for. 4 Chicken and Chorizo Jambalaya! SHDC is administering the fund under its Grants4Growth scheme, and so far has made 95 awards worth over £747,000 to help businesses expand. These grants have resulted in the creation of 41 jobs, and together with £2.6 million in match funding from the businesses themselves, represents £3.4 million in investment in the area. Businesses can apply for be-tween £1,000 and £24,999 for projects that will help their business develop or build capacity. The grant can be for up to 28% of the total cost of the project they wish to fund, with the balance being met by the applicant. Servicemen and women both serving and retired were honoured for the service they have given for their country as part of the national Armed Forces Day celebrations. Amongst several events put together, as Chairman of the Council, Rodney raised the Armed Forces Day Flag and SHDC Priory Roads offices, with military personal in attendance . Approximately 11,600 households are being urged to tell South Holland District Council if they are claiming council tax discounts they are not entitled to. The council gives a 25 per cent council tax dis-count to more than 11,600 households where there is only one adult resident at the property. In the last financial year, this totalled more than £3.4million. The council will shortly be working with a third party to compare its council tax information with other databases. This will identify those cases where more than one adult is living at an address and a discount is still being claimed. Council tax payers can contact South Holland District Council’s Revenues service by ringing 01775 761161 and select option 4 or email [email protected]. As part of National Licensing Week held in June, SHDC highlighted the essential work that goes on behind the scenes by its licensing team, licensees, operators and regulators, ensuring safety and standards are adhered to across the district. The council’s dedicated licensing team works on a daily basis with vast array of businesses and individuals who require licensing support and appraisal. From kennels to charity collections, bingo halls to betting shops and scrap metal dealers to street traders, the licensing team works tirelessly to ensure that these businesses, amenities and leisure activities meet the standards that we all expect from them. 6 Spalding East Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team Area Update Lincolnshire PCSO Naomi Newell Police Non Police Community Emergency You can follow your Number Support Officer Neighbourhood Policing Mob. 07973848121 Team on Twitter 101 @SpaldingPolice Household Recycling- South Holland Parish Voluntary Car Service If you need transport to Doctors, Den- Spalding tist,Chiropodist, Hospital etc. Call Pat Preston on West Marsh Road, Spalding 01775 719290 Opening Hours Would you like to be one of our Voluntary Car March to Oct 8am to 4pm every day Drivers? Through our insurance we were able to claim for all the damage caused, new ceiling and floor and the electrical system replaced. Whilst working on the pavilion, the Parish Council resolved to completely refurbish the building. A new kitchen had been installed and the outside fascias and soffits had also been replaced. A coat of paint both inside and outside is to be done too. The pavilion can then be hired out for meetings and with it being next to the play area, can be hired out for children’s parties. New heavy duty tables and benches have now been installed on the field and ideas welcome on what you would like to see within the ‘park area’ for everyone’s enjoyment are most welcome.
