AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY in TLAXCALA, MEXICO Tlaxcala Has Initiated a New Stage of Industrialization AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY IN TLAXCALA, MEXICO Tlaxcala has initiated a new stage of industrialization. We are one of the best well communicated and most safe States in Mexico, with an annual employment rate of over 9 per cent. We have enough infrastructure and a strategic geographic location in the center of the country that grant us access to the huge consumers market of Puebla and Mexico City, as well as their international airports, which are the main access points for inputs and goods, also including the Veracruz maritime port, which is the one with the most traffic in the Mexican Republic. We are part of the Puebla-Tlaxcala metropolitan area, one of the most economic developed areas in the American Continent, which has distinguished itself by the boom in the automotive industry. With attitude and decisiveness, we have took advantage of our regional potential to be more competitive and foster the growth of other important sectors such as the chemical, textile and tourism, with a vision that stimulates the linkage between the productive and educative sector. Our Entity holds a vocation of integration with Mexico that we want it to grow to the world. We count with an orderly public administration, stable, and without any debt, that is focused in remove obstacles, solve problems and promote productive projects in order to accompany the business community, diversify the investment and consolidate the business environment that promotes the opening of new job sources. We live in times of reforms that open opportunities, and in Tlaxcala we recognize the possibility to join the international trends and show the world how proud we are of being who we are: A great State which generates value and wealth. Handbooks-©ECORFAN-Mexico, Tlaxcala, 2018. 93 Abstract The auto parts industry in Tlaxcala has historically been influenced by the proximity of the Volkswagen plant and, currently, by the opening of the AUDI plant in San José Chiapa, Puebla. The arrival of the main global auto parts companies has driven the domestic sector to adopt the best practices of the supply chain. This has improved the competitiveness that leads to a quantum growth in exports. However, the Tlaxcala auto parts industry has to operate in a unique environment that poses challenges to the already complex automotive supply chain. In this study, we conducted an assessment of the logistics performance of the auto parts sector in the state of Tlaxcala. For its analysis, the indicators of the Logistics Performance Index were used and the variables taken into account are: Infrastructure, tracking and tracking, punctuality and performance of customs.
