Philodryas olfersii (Lichtenstein, 1823) is a far, only one of this has been reported widely distributed in , occurring in by Callitrhrix penicillata (Canale and Lingnau, 2003; , , , , and Toledo et al., 2007). (Peters and Orejas- Miranda, 1970; Uetz et al., 2019). It The present observation reports a B. lundii predation is a medium-sized species (reaches up to 1.4 m in total event by P. olfersii in the Rolinha-do-Planalto Nature length), characterised by the presence of Duvernoy’s Reserve, Botumirim municipality, Minas Gerais state, glands (Serapicos and Merusse, 2006; Rocha and Brazil (-16.86809S, -43.00739W). On 7 April 2019, we Furtado, 2007), diurnal and semi-arboreal habits recorded an individual of P. olfersii around 11:53 h. The (Vanzolini et al., 1980; Hartmann and Marques, 2005). snake was perched in a bush, with its mouth holding It is generalistic, feeding upon a great variety of small one of the hindlimb of the treefrog B. lundii (Fig. 1A, mammals, , and anurans (Vitt, 1980; Vitt B). After holding the prey and adjusting its mouth, and Vangilder, 1983; Hartmann and Marques, 2005; the snake started and completed the ingestion process Leite et al., 2009). (viewed in Fig. 1C, D, E, F). Boana lundii (Burmeister, 1856) is a species of hylid As observed in the present record, frog that inhabits environments from Atlantic Forest and has arboreal and daytime foraging habits (Hartmann and its distribution includes Midwestern and and Marques, 2005). This species feeds preferentially Southeastern Brazilian states (Frost, 2020). This species on frogs and camouflages itself in with a green has reproductive mode 4 (Haddad and Prado, 2005), foliage background to prey on its prey, an efficient which consists of the deposition of eggs in natural or feature in daytime (Hartmann and Marques, built “pans” by males (Kopp et al., 2010). Although 2005). To date, there has been no record of the species some aspects of its natural history are relatively well B. lundii as prey for P. olfersii. Thus, we can say that B. known (Bastos, 2007; Kopp et al., 2010), there is still lundii is part of the diet of P. olfersii. no relevant information about its main predators and so Acknowledgments.
