Internationale Offene Meisterschaften zum Beispiel German Open Championships in Stuttgart (August), British Open in Blackpool (Mai), Austrian Open in Wien (November). Auf diesen internationalen Wettkämpfen können alle Altersgruppen und alle Disziplinen starten. Das Seniorenturnier Standard auf der British Open in Blackpool galt lange Zeit als "inoffizielle Weltmeisterschaft", da es bis 1994 keine offizielle gab. Auch in den anderen Disziplinen hatte ein Sieg in Blackpool vor allem für Nicht-Engländer eine besondere Bedeutung, da anders als bei Welt- oder Europameisterschaften vor einem rein englischen Wertungsgericht getanzt Deutscher Tanzsportverband Öffentlichkeitsarbeit wird. This year, their crowning success has been winning the Mabel Ellison Trophy for the Display Section of the Festival on 13 February. In addition the mixed team won their section. More about it inside London Branch takes Olympia by storm MOVEIT is one of the UK’s largest annual Dance exhibitions attracting over 20,000 people to Olympia. The opportunity arose in February for London Branch to exhibit at the 11-14 March show and with some financial support from RSCDS HQ we set about designing our stand, materials and a rota to cover all four days. It was a hugely vibrant exhibition with performances, workshops and activities taking place all the time and ranging from street dance, to salsa, ballroom, ballet and many other forms of dance. Our small stand (Number 111) attracted many people who were pleased to see Scottish Country Dancing represented, and many said that more traditional folk dancing should have been there too. From a networking point of view and from simply flying the flag for SCD it was a real success. But given our late entry on the Where to find: scene it was not possible to provide any Page dance performance and this is what folks 2 ........................... AGM really wanted to see.

    Carl Alan Awards 2010 The Oscars of the World of Dance The Carl-Alan Awards were first introduced in 1953 by Eric Morley and were named after the joint Chairmen of Mecca Carl Heimann and Alan Fairley. The International Dance Teachers' Association was proud to present the 2010 Carl Alan Awards on Sunday 7th February, in conjunction with the IDTA President’s Dinner and Dance. The IDTA were pleased that all three sections of the awards were presented: Freestyle Theatre Ballroom, Latin & Sequence There are five categories of awards in each section. Performer's Award Teacher's Award Competitive Coach/Choreography Award Outstanding Services to Dance Award Lifetime Achievement Award All recognised dance associations or societies were invited to make nominations in all categories and each member body of the British Dance Council or Theatre Dance Council International was invited to send a delegate to represent them on each of the selection committees. The IDTA remained independent in the selection process. From the many nominations received, the selection committees were asked to short-list up to three nominees in each category. To be nominated for a Carl Alan Award by your peers reflects the nominee's considerable contribution to the world of dance. IDTA would like to congratulate all the nominees; unfortunately there can only be one winner in each category.     Carl Alan Awards 2009 The Oscars of the World of Dance The Carl-Alan Awards were first introduced in 1953 by Eric Morley and were named after the joint Chairmen of Mecca Carl Heimann and Alan Fairley. The International Dance Teachers' Association was proud to present the 2009 Carl Alan Awards on Sunday 1st February, in conjunction with the IDTA President’s Dinner and Dance. The IDTA were pleased that all three sections of the awards were presented: Freestyle Theatre Ballroom, Latin & Sequence There are five categories of awards in each section. Performer's Award Teacher's Award Competitive Coach/Choreography Award Outstanding Services to Dance Award Lifetime Achievement Award All recognised dance associations or societies were invited to make nominations in all categories and each association or society was invited to send a delegate to represent them on each of the selection committees. The IDTA remained independent in the selection process. From the many nominations received, the selection committees were asked to short-list up to three nominees in each category. To be nominated for a Carl Alan Award by your peers reflects the nominee's considerable contribution to the world of dance. IDTA would like to congratulate all the nominees; unfortunately there can only be one winner in each category.
