Although the tooth was Accepted 12 May, 2020 misidentified as a "Prodeinodon"-like megalosaurid theropod at the first time, detailed comparisons with known theropod dentition anatomy strongly indicate that this tooth belongs to an Acrocanthosaurus-like basal carcharodontosaurid theropod. This referral is supported by its combination of large size, ovoid-shaped cervix outline, mesial carina that does not reach the cervix, labially displaced distal carina and large number of denticles. This tooth is different from other carcharodontosaurid teeth from the same formation in several anatomical aspects (e.g., smaller overall size, presence of transverse lines adjacent to the distal carina, presence of interdenticular sulci in distal carina, denticle densities, crown basal ratio), indicating that carcharodontosaurid diversity in the Early Cretaceous of Korea could have been higher, although these differences may represent positional or individual variations. The presence of Acrocanthosaurus-like theropod teeth (e.g., "Prodeinodon", "Wakinosaurus") from early Cretaceous deposits (Valanginian-Cenomanian) of South Korea, Japan, Mongolia and China indicates that North American Acrocanthosaurus atokensis possibly represents a form that immigrated from the Asia. -

Together with rich skeletal record from northeastern China, they facilitate our understanding about distribution and diversity of birds during the time. In contrast, in Japan, the fossil record of the Early Cretaceous birds is poorly known. Here, we report two ichnotaxa of the Early Cretaceous birds from the Aptian Kitadani Formation. We employ three-dimensional imaging techniques to objectively document and describe the specimens. Specimens include FPDM-F-74 and FPDM-F-75 recovered from an alternating sequence of fine sandstone and mudstone of the Kitadani Formation cropping out in the Kitadani Dinosaur Quarry, Katsuyama, Fukui, Japan. FPDM-F-74 is large in size, bears slender digits with pointy ends (claw impressions), and lacks hallux and webbing traces. These characters allow assignment of FPDM-F-74 to cf. -

The First Possible Choristoderan Trackway from the Lower
www.nature.com/scientificreports OPEN The frst possible choristoderan trackway from the Lower Cretaceous Daegu Formation of South Korea and its implications on choristoderan locomotion Yuong‑Nam Lee1*, Dal‑Yong Kong2 & Seung‑Ho Jung2 Here we report a new quadrupedal trackway found in the Lower Cretaceous Daegu Formation (Albian) in the vicinity of Ulsan Metropolitan City, South Korea, in 2018. A total of nine manus‑pes imprints show a strong heteropodous quadrupedal trackway (length ratio is 1:3.36). Both manus and pes tracks are pentadactyl with claw marks. The manus prints rotate distinctly outward while the pes prints are nearly parallel to the direction of travel. The functional axis in manus and pes imprints suggests that the trackmaker moved along the medial side during the stroke progressions (entaxonic), indicating weight support on the inner side of the limbs. There is an indication of webbing between the pedal digits. These new tracks are assigned to Novapes ulsanensis, n. ichnogen., n. ichnosp., which are well‑matched not only with foot skeletons and body size of Monjurosuchus but also the fossil record of choristoderes in East Asia, thereby N. ulsanensis could be made by a monjurosuchid‑like choristoderan and represent the frst possible choristoderan trackway from Asia. N. ulsanensis also suggests that semi‑aquatic choristoderans were capable of walking semi‑erect when moving on the ground with a similar locomotion pattern to that of crocodilians on land. South Korea has become globally famous for various tetrapod footprints from Cretaceous strata1, among which some clades such as frogs2, birds3 and mammals4 have been proved for their existences only with ichnological evidence. -

Particularly noteworthy is that pterosaur tracks are commonly found in this area, although pterosaur tracks are generally rare compared to dinosaur tracks in other areas. Besides, the pterosaur tracks in this site vary widely in their morphology, size, and degree of preservation. Here we report new pterosaur tracks and trackway which are very small and well-preserved among various pterosaur tracks. Manus imprints have average values of 27.8 mm long, 9.0 mm wide, and 3.2 length/width ra- tio. Pes prints show average values of 27.7 mm long, 13.2 mm wide, and 2.1 length/width ratio. Small-sized (< 5 cm) footprints of pterosaur are rarely occurred around the world. Welcome! Welcome to the VI Symposium on Dinosaur Eggs and Babies, the return of this periodic gathering to the Iberian Peninsula, when it hatched eighteen years ago. From the slopes of the Pyrenees, we have followed the first steps of dinosaurs through France, Argentina, the United States and China. Today, we come back and see the coast where the first theropod embryos were discovered twenty years ago. Since the end of the last century, Paleoology, much like other branches of palaeontology, has evolved thanks to the advance of new methodologies and analytical tools, becoming a progressively more interdisciplinary area of knowledge. Dinosaur babies and embryos, rare findings back when these meetings started, seem to be everywhere now that we learn to look for them under the light of the microscope. New astonishing specimens allow us to understand how Mesozoic dinosaurs mate and reproduce. Oology, our parent discipline in the modern world, has made great advances in understanding the form and function of the egg, and its applications on poultry industry are countless. More than thirty contributions evidence that our field remains small but alive and healthy. Park, P.S. Park and K.H. Song Introduction Farm loans have increased quite rapidly in the recent decades and the farm household debt 1 matter has become a serious socio-economic issue in Korea. In an effort to get around this critical issue, the government would prepare and implement impromptu new debt measures. Yet, the farm-debt ratio over farm income has been increasing very rapidly since the beginning of the WTO in 1995 and the IMF financial crisis of 1997, leading to 88 per cent as that of 2000, mainly due to low agricultural income. During the period of 1994 (the year right before the beginning of the WTO)-2000, farm household income had increased by 13.6 per cent but debt had increased by as much as 156.3 per cent (MAF, 2001 ). That is, farm household debt has been increasing very rapidly since 1995. Yet, the ratio of non-farm income accounted for around 32 per cent of farm income in recent years, which made it more difficult for farmers to repay their loans. This problem is getting even more complicated because of joint surety among the farmers, which would lead to total bankruptcy of farms including financially sound farms. Recently, more than 7 5 per cent of farm loans were utilised for the purpose of agricultural production. In order to cope with labour shortage problems due to the rural-urban migration of labour force, farmers began to purchase more agricultural machinery, which eventually led to the galloping farm household debts. -

Strange tadpoles from the lower Miocene of Turkey: Is paedogenesis possible in anurans? Acta Palaeontologica Polonica 55 (1): 43–55. Fossil material from the lower Miocene collected in the basin lake of Beşkonak (Turkey) included 19 slabs showing 19 amphibian anuran tadpoles of rather large size, at Gosner stages 36–38. These well preserved specimens show many mor− phological and skeletal characters. They are here tentatively referred to the genus Pelobates. Two of these tadpoles show an unusual group of black roundish spots in the abdominal region, and a third similar group of spots is present in another slab but we were unable to state if it was associated with a tadpole or not. Several hypotheses can be proposed to account for these structures: artefacts; intestinal content (seeds; inert, bacterial or fungal aggregations; eggs); internal or external parasites; diseases; eggs produced by the tadpole. The latter hypothesis is discussed in detail and is shown to be unlikely for several reasons. However, in the improbable case where these spots would correspond to eggs, this would be the first reported case of natural paedogenesis in anurans, a phenomenon which has been so far considered impossible mostly for anatomical reasons (e.g., absence of space in the abdominal cavity).
