This is Where It Begins Our Covid-19 Plan Welcome back to Pontecorvo Ballet Studios for the 21-22 Season! We continue to follow all local, state and federal rules to keep your dancer and our staff safe. Happily, all teens and adults can easily get vaccinated now, and we hope you do. Vaccines are not available for our many sttudents under 12, so to keep them safe masks continue to be required in the building unless (1) you are in a studio where all dancers are 12 or older AND (2) you are fully vaccinated. Masks are still required for all in the lobby, restrooms and dressing areas regardless of vaccination status,and in the stu- dios for any dancer not vaccinated. In addition, we will continue our regimen of increased venti- lation and extra cleaning of touch services. We implemented mask requirements and other steps when we reopened in June 2020 and are happy to say that, as of July 2021, there has been, to our knowledge, NO in-studio transmis- sion of COVID-19 disease. We are so proud of our dancers and how they adapted,following all guidelines and keeping everyone safe and healthy. We urge everyone to get vaccinated as soon as they can. The selection reflects National Curriculum recommendations for KS1 and KS2. This list can be accessed on the Library catalogue by entering the phrase ‘History through stories’ in the keyword search screen, where additional titles can also be found. The list is available online from the EHSC Library News & Information page on the Learning Network. You can also search the catalogue directly for individual historical stories set in particular periods by combining “history through stories” and the topic. E.g. A Teacher’s Guide to Antelope Valley Ballet’s “Nutcracker” Dear Educator, As you make plans for your students to attend an upcoming presentation of the Arts for Youth program at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center, we invite you to prepare your students by using this guide to assure that from beginning to end; the experience is both memorable and educationally enriching. The material in this guide is for you the teacher, and will assist you in preparing your students before the day of the event, and extending the educational value to beyond the walls of the theatre. We provide activity and/or discussion ideas, and other resources that will help to prepare your students to better understand and enjoy what they are about to see, and to help them connect what they see on stage to their studies. We also encourage you to discuss important aspects of the artistic experience, including audience etiquette. We hope that your students find their imagination comes alive as lights shine, curtains open, and applause rings through Lancaster Performing Arts Center. ABSTRACTS Yuri P. Burlaka PAQUITA GRAND PAS AND LE CORSAIRE GRAND PAS: COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS The article explores the origin of creation and the production history of such masterpieces as Grand pas from Paquita and Grand pas Le Jardin Animé from Le Corsaire by Marius Petipa. The analysis proves the fact that with the invention of these choreographic structures the Romantic Pantomime Ballet turn into the Grand Ballet of the second half of the 19th century. In Petipa’s mature works the plot of the ballet is revealed not only in pantomime but through dance as well. Petipa’s the most famous ballets called Don Quixote which was shown in Moscow and St. Petersburg versions in 1869 and 1871 respectively. The primary Moscow choreography is in a focus. Musical dramaturgy of the ballet is analyzed as well as connections between musical dramaturgy and drama plot are traced. Besides, the article contains a brief comparative analysis of music from Moscow and St. Petersburg choreographies of Don Quixote.
