MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
Dear Friends:
Welcome to the 48th season of the Northwest Florida Ballet! With the return of the Northwest Florida Ballet Symphony Orchestra and FIVE productions at venues all along the Emerald Coast, we have proven our commitment to elevating the performing arts in the communities we serve. As friends of NFB and valued patrons of the arts, we have listened to your feedback and identified new performance locations and expanded use of others to continue bringing you the world-class productions our organization is known for. Todd Eric Allen, NFB Artistic Director & CEO
The season begins with World Ballet Stars, a main stage production at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center in September. Through our expanded partnership with Grand Boulevard, we will present Giselle to the community as a free outdoor performance in Grand Park in October. We return to the Mattie Kelly Arts Center in November for our 38th annual production of The Nutcracker. In December we bring back the electrifying Lightwire Theater with A Very Electric Christmas for two performances at the Destin United Methodist Church Life Center.
Last year we added a tremendous amount of depth to our productions with the introduction of the Northwest Florida Ballet Symphony Orchestra, led by renowned conductor and composer David Ott. In addition to providing live musical accompaniment for The Nutcracker again this season, we take an even greater leap forward by featuring David’s original composition in Peter Pan along with world premier choreography by the internationally acclaimed Katia Garza in March 2018.
To learn more about us or to order tickets online, please visit us at NFBallet.org and connect with us on Facebook. As always, I invite you to reach out to me directly if I can be of any assistance. Thank you again for attending this production and supporting NFB.
Cordially, NFB is supported, in part, by the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs.

Mainsail Realty Supports Northwest Florida Ballet
Founded in 1969 by dance pioneer Bernadette Clements, Northwest Florida Ballet was originally called the Fort Walton Beach Ballet. The name was changed to the Northwest Florida Ballet in 1987 to better reflect its geographic service area. The organization’s mission is to provide quality dance performances and instruction for Northwest Florida; identify and develop talented dancers; and increase appreciation of the arts through public education and outreach.
In 1995, former NFB student Todd Eric Allen returned to the area after a distinguished career with Boston Ballet and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens to accept the position of Director of the Company. Mr. Allen’s talent, his leadership skills, and his extensive performance experience have contributed greatly to the continued growth and success of the Company.
In August 2002, the Northwest Florida Ballet and Sybil Smith Lebherz Center for Dance Education opened its doors in downtown Fort Walton Beach after a three-year fund raising campaign and a thirty-three-year history of service to the residents of Northwest Florida.
NFB offers world-class performances and training to the community, and reaches thousands of school children through public programs and student performances. In 2002 NFB opened its unique arts education program, the NFB Académie, offering superior academic education and ballet training to young students in grades 3-8 free of charge. For students grades 9-12 NFB created its Pre-Professional Program, an intensive course of study for young men and women who wish to pursue careers as professional dancers.
