Right from the beginning some organisations ‘stepped up’ in response to the unprecedented situation. None of us really knew exactly what we needed to do but what we did know, was we needed each other. Immediately RT had banners made with contact numbers for debt, benefit and employment support and displayed them across the area.” St Ann’s & Sneinton Food Store “They supported us with funds to increase 2 staff working hours to full time so they could work in the food bank alongside our café cook. They also helped us with volunteer expenses for 2 people who attended the centre everyday and whose contributions have been fantastic. We are hoping to employ one of them through the kickstart programme. He is open about the vast improvement in his mental health since he has been working with us. RT sourced 3 other volunteers from ‘Dawn till Dusk’ casino who came to us to deliver food parcels, 3 days per week, but went on to do any driving we needed. They have stayed with us throughout the whole period and although they have now returned to work 2 still deliver parcels for us. At the peak of the lockdown we were feeding nearly 1,000 per week with over 400 parcels being delivered. The van has been crucial in collecting food donations, goods from the 2 university campuses and distributing essential items to the local community. Cherry was a regular visitor to the centre bringing food and donations. Strong links were made through the trust with local businesses that will continue to support our centre going forward. I believe that this challenging period has shown the true nature of our organisations and our community and strengthened our partnership for the future. Thank you Renewal Trust” Feel Good Family & Teenage Packs Starting with a conversation with Active Notts about growing the work of the Renewal Trust alongside them, the conversation ended with a commitment of funding to get activity packs out to teenagers in the community during the COIVD-19 pandemic. A further conversation led us to thinking about delivering packs to families, the elderly and the vulnerable. We then secured further funding from Experian, Nottingham City Homes and Metropolitan Housing. Funding was also brought together through the Area based Grant Partnership supporting: • The SEND Project • Community Recording Studio • The Greenway Centre • Epic Partners • Ideea Rom (Roma) Association • Muslim Community Organisation (MCO) • KK Sport To Date we have delivered 310 family packs and 95 teenage packs We then went on to support Nottingham City Council to provide packs to Golden Number families, and those deemed to be vulnerable. The Feel Good Teenage Packs include sporting equipment that can be used at home such as mini footballs, table tennis kits, stretch bands, skipping ropes and yoga mats. The Feel Good Packs for families contain a whole range of family-friendly activities and resources including pens, pencils, books, games, and toys and sports equipment. Even an odd Easter Egg could be found. Feel Good Feedback • “Thank you so much @RenewalTrust and @ActiveNotts we received some sports equipment today for my teens. This now has a shape and city wide agreement with Risk Assessments and guidance shared with all partners who wished to deliver for young people over the summer. • At the Renewal Trust we worked with local ABG providers and partner organisations to offer our Summer LIVE programme.
