  • (A ) Revised Area Committee Boundaries
Wards affected: - City -wide EXECUTIVE BOARD REPORT OF THE 4 DECEMBER 2001 CHIEF EXECUTIVE REVISED AREA COMMITTEE BOUNDARIES 1 SUMMARY 1.1 This report provides feedback on the consultation exercise that took place on options for revised Area Committee boundaries. It also introduces a new Option 3 that has emerged from the consultation. 2 RECOMMENDATIONS 2.1 It is recommended that Executive Board approve Option 3 for the structure of Area Committees with effect from May 2003. 3 BACKGROUND 3.1 On 11 July 2001, Executive Board agreed to invite views on two options for revised Area Committee boundaries. These options are attached to the report. 3.2 Following that decision, all Area Committees were consulted along with key organisations with an interest in Area Committee activities. These included local partnerships, the Police, Health Authority, Nottingham City Primary Care Trust, the Fire Service and a large number of voluntary and community organisations. 4 CONSULTATION ON OPTIONS FOR REVISED AREA COMMITTEE BOUNDARIES 4.1 The consultation took place from mid-July to mid-September 2001. 4.2 During the consultation with Area Committees, only Area Committee 7 decided to express a clear preference between the two options, indicating their support for Option 2. Other Area Committees chose instead to express their support for the principle of aligning Area Committees more closely to identifiable communities and reducing the size of areas that they covered. They also encouraged local organisations within their areas to feedback their views directly

  • Does Someone You Know Deserve an Award for Their Outstanding Voluntary Work? Why Not Vote for Them in This Year’S South of Nottingham Volunteer Achievement Awards
Does someone you know deserve an award for their outstanding voluntary work? Why not vote for them in this year’s South of Nottingham Volunteer Achievement Awards The South of Nottingham Volunteer Achievement Awards were launched by Nottingham charity, The Renewal Trust, to recognise, reward and celebrate the outstanding contribution volunteers make to the area. The Awards are now in their fourth year and they’ve helped to shine the spotlight on many volunteers of all ages, including those whose contribution may otherwise have gone unnoticed. Nominations for this year’s Awards are open until 12pm on 29 October 2014, so why not nominate someone you know? Anyone can nominate a person, project or group, as long as the work they do is voluntary and they’re based in the south of the city, including St Ann’s, Sneinton, Ransom Road/Mapperley and Clifton. All those shortlisted for an award will be invited to a glittering awards ceremony complete with red carpet on Monday 17 November at The Council House, Old Market Square, Nottingham from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, where the winners will be announced and the awards presented. The evening will include entertainment from IAMSTARZ, a 15 year old singer/songwriter from Nottingham. Shortlisted volunteers, projects and groups will receive a certificate whilst winners will be presented with a prize. All those nominated will receive a hand-written thank you card from the Renewal Trust to recognise the work they do. Every nomination will be carefully considered by a judging panel made up of representatives from the local area.

Right from the beginning some organisations ‘stepped up’ in response to the unprecedented situation. None of us really knew exactly what we needed to do but what we did know, was we needed each other. Immediately RT had banners made with contact numbers for debt, benefit and employment support and displayed them across the area.” St Ann’s & Sneinton Food Store “They supported us with funds to increase 2 staff working hours to full time so they could work in the food bank alongside our café cook. They also helped us with volunteer expenses for 2 people who attended the centre everyday and whose contributions have been fantastic.
