Kent Andersson Escorting Plastic Change 2 3 Kent Andersson - Commodore 1 The Log November 2016 The Official Publication Of The Pacific Mariners Yacht Club Commodore Kent Andersson escorting Plastic Change 2 3 Kent Andersson - Commodore The year is coming to an end real fast. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all members who helped me during my Commodore year and to every- one for respecting the three day closer when we had the floor refinished and the carpet replaced (not to everyone’s taste, but, what’s new.) I hope I didn’t hurt anyone’s feelings during the year by maintaining the traditional values of PMYC while at the same time, trying new ideas. All clubs change over time...I get it. Beaches and Harbors just opened up a dinghy dock at the old fuel dock (impound) next to El Torito in Fisherman’s Village. You can stay up to 4 hours, but not after 9pm. Dinghy’s up to 12’, but I talked to the Harbor Patrol and they will not tow anyone as long as you don’t try to move in. Killer Shrimp will now have competition in the dining by boat category. Respect the rules. Our fundraiser and Plastic Change presentation on Friday, Oct. 28 turned out great. The Vikings are now back on the water conquering the world in a different way. We raised $3,700 that night, but it came with a price. They are now flying our burgee on the mast during the expedition. I would especially like to thank Peter / Rhonda Breum & Helene Smith for providing the food, Barry Harnett for getting the house ready, Charlotte Tarantola for getting so many prizes and Kia for all the help with the Danes and letting me come back home in the evening. You guys made the night special. We will have a chart posted at the club with the GPS position of the ship during their trip to the Pacific Plastic Soup. I will get it from their satellite phone. 4 Port Captain Tony Milazzo (thanks for your efforts around the club) and I took our boats out to send them off outside the break water. Follow their journey on Facebook or www.plasticchange.org. 5 Dear Members of the Pacific Mariners Yacht Club Plastic Change is on a great expedition all the way from Denmark to Hawaii to understand and the consequences of the world’s plastic pollution of our oceans. We bring scientists to the world’s plastic soups and at the same time we communicate what we see to engage everyone to protect our oceans. Every minute one truck of plastic enters the oceans. In 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the world’s oceans if we continue to litter in our marine environment. Only if people support us and will be changing this course, this will not be the future. There for it was really fantastic for us to meet the members of Pacific Mariners Yacht Club. Such a support on all levels is seldom. All the good people and the helping hands we have met here definitely encourages us as an organization. By working with people like you we believe there is a future where we live sustainable with plastic. We are now on the way to Hawaii. We'll be sending the best thoughts to you all at the club while we sail on the world’s biggest ocean and keep up the good work for the future of the coming generations. Keith Mott Rear Commodore 10 Tony Milazzo - Port Captain Another incredible month in Port! We started off with Plastic Change International (non- profit) bringing in their 54ft, 1952 steel hull sailboat from Denmark. Later, they slid out to the boat yard to prepare for the next leg of their expedition. Four cruisers from Canada, Portland & Seattle came in on their way to the Baha HaHa in Mexico. They slid out after a few days as Plastic Change Vikings came back in to prepare for their journey & fundraising presentations in the Marina. They were great guests & I spent a lot of time with the crew. I am sad to see them go, but that’s what sailors do...SAIL! Thanks to everyone who made their stay easier, helped out, donated, supported or listened to what they had to say on Friday night. Let's give them our continued support & keep following them! Facebook at Plastic Change International or PlasticChange.org. Thank you Commodore Kent & Kia Andersson for throwing a great fundraiser/party & for being Vikings! October ended down ≈18%, with best performing films The Girl on the Train and The Accountant collectively grossing $127 million to date (with Metacritic scores of 48 and 51 respectively) facing a tough comparison to last year’s The Martian (which grossed $228 million, and was much more favorably reviewed with a Metacritic score of 80). Boo! A Madea Halloween appears to be performing better than expectations (grossing $52 million to date), likely benefitting from a fewer number of Halloween releases this year. Doctor Strange has reportedly grossed $86 million overseas, which bodes well for the film’s US and Chinese premieres this week. Despite the potential for any individual film to outperform our expectations however, the overall comparison for Q4 to last year remains a significantly high hurdle, facing the first Star Wars title in 10 years, the Hunger Games franchise finale, Daniels Craig’s last James Bond performance, and several successful Children’s films. We are thus maintaining our estimate for Q4 of down 8%.

October was down 8.1% ($657 million), with the top five films grossing over $50 million each and collectively grossing $306 million during the month. October faced a difficult comparison from The Martian and Hotel Transylvania last year, which, along with number three Goosebumps , totaled $331 million for the month. November was up 7.6% ($959 million), with Doctor Strange, Fantastic Beasts, and Trolls leading the box office and all surpassing $100 million each. December was down 8.8% ($1.2 billion), with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story generating $408 million, compared to December 2015 when The Force Awakens earned $652 million. We expect solid box office growth in 2017, but expect a challenging start to the year given difficult comps in the first quarter. • Premium ticket comparisons were difficult in Q4 and we expect difficult comparisons to a lesser extent in Q1. In Figure 2 on page 3, we compare the top ten films in each quarter to the prior year’s quarter, denoting which was or will be available in IMAX or IMAX 3D.

  • April 17, 2017 Fellow Shareholders, in Q1, We Surpassed $2.5 Billion In
April 17, 2017 Fellow shareholders, In Q1, we surpassed $2.5 billion in quarterly streaming revenue and added 5 million members. The opportunity provided to us by the growth of the global internet is gigantic and our plan is to keep investing as we increase membership, revenue and operating margins. 1 Q1 Results and Q2 Forecast The quarterly guidance we provide is our internal forecast at the time we report, and we strive for accuracy. In Q1, there were no substantial variations from our January guidance forecast. Due to content (primarily House of Cards season 5) moving from Q1 to Q2, we had higher operating margins in Q1 (as forecasted) at 9.7% than our plan for the year (about 7%). We forecast operating margin at 4.4% in Q2, placing us on track to reach our 7% target for the full year. The other effect of the content moves is lower net adds in Q1 compared to prior year (as expected) and heavier net adds in Q2 compared to prior year (about double). We have come to see these quarterly variances as mostly noise in the long-term growth trend and adoption of internet TV. For the first half of this year, for example, we expect to have 8.15 million net adds, compared to 8.42 million net adds in the first half last year. International net additions decreased 22% year over year, as we lapped our January 2016 launch of over 130 countries, and the accompanying early surge demand, in Q1 2016. Revenue for the international segment grew 62% year over year, excluding a -$12 million impact from currency, while ASP rose 12% year over year on a F/X neutral basis.
