Rupert Gregson-Williams COMPOSER Rupert Gregson-Williams was born in England and educated at St. John’s College Choir School, Cambridge. The multi-award winning composer works from his studios in both London and Los Angeles. A truly versatile composer, Rupert has written a wide range of scores for many feature films, including the Oscar-winning Hotel Rwanda for which he was awarded the European Film Award for Best Composer, the blockbuster DreamWorks animated films Over The Hedge and Jerry Seinfeld’s Bee Movie, for which Rupert was nominated for an Annie Award for his original score and the independent BBC Films’ Love + Hate, for which he was awarded the Reims International Composer Award. Recent scores include the DC Comics and Warner Bros $1Billion grossing Aquaman, Terminal, starring Margot Robbie, Wonder Woman, The Legend of Tarzan, starring Alexander Skarsgård and Margot Robbie and directed by David Yates, Hacksaw Ridge, starring Andrew Garfield and directed by Mel Gibson, and series 1 and 2 of the original Netflix series, The Crown created by Peter Morgan. Other film credits include Winter’s Tale directed by Akiva Goldsman, Zookeeper starring Kevin James, Made of Honor starring Patrick Dempsey and Thunderpants starring Stephen Fry. Gregson-Williams has had a long association with Adam Sandler and has composed the scores for many of his films over the past ten years, including The Week Of for Netflix, Sandy Wexler, Click, Bedtime Stories, Grown Ups, Just Go With It, Here Comes The Boom, The Ridiculous 6 and The Do-Over. Rupert has composed the music for various TV projects, including two series of The Crown (scored with Lorne Balfe), Sky’s 2019 drama series Catherine the Great starring Helen Mirren, the Emmy- award winning HBO series Veep, AMC’s The Prisoner, and Sky Vision’s Agatha Raisin. He received an Emmy nomination for the 2002 telefilm “Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story” for Outstanding Music Composition for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special (Dramatic Underscore). Rupert’s commercial and film collaborations have included working with Ben Folds, Mark Knopfler, Hans Zimmer, Hadag Nahash, Lebo M., Junior Mambazo and Moya Brennan. Rupert is co-repped in the US by Fortress Talent Management. Actors mingle and clash in the best possible lighting, and conversation is fraught with wit and emotion. The director usually gets the bulk of the credit. But before he or she can play the consummate host, someone must carefully select the right guests, send out the invites, and keep track of the RSVPs”. ‘OSCARS: The Role Of Casting Director’ by Monica Corcoran Harel, The Deadline Team, December 6, 2012 Playing one of the key roles in creating that successful “dinner” is the Casting Director, but someone who is often over-looked in the recognition department. Everyone sees the actor at work, but very few people see the hours of research, the intrinsic skills, the gut instinct that the Casting Director puts into finding just the right person for just the right role. It’s a mix of routine and inspiration which brings the characters we come to love, and sometimes to hate, to the big screen. The Casting Director’s delicate work as liaison between director, actors, their agent/manager and the studio/network figures prominently in decisions which can make or break a project. It’s a job that can't garner an Oscar, but its mighty importance is always felt behind the scenes. In July 2013, the Academy of Motion Pictures of Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) created a new branch for Casting Directors, and we are thrilled that a number of members of the International Casting Directors Network are amongst the first Casting Directors invited into the Academy.

Listening to real-life conversations, watching award- winning films, and learning from the masters will help you craft dialogue that shines on the page. The following writing thoughts and advice are excerpts from Karl Iglesias’ book, The 101 Habits of Highly Successful Screenwriters. Enjoy! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Writing Unrealistic and Boring Dialogue In real life, dialogue is mostly polite conversation. In film, polite conversation is considered bad dialogue, unless it’s witty, sarcastic, or has a unique voice. The reason is that polite chat lacks tension, and tension is the key to dramatic storytelling. As Alfred Hitchcock once said, “Drama is real life with all the boring parts cut out of it.” The key to good dialogue is to understand that it’s not conversation, it’s action. What characters say in a scene should be said to get what they want in the scene. And to determine whether or not your dialogue sounds realistic, read it out loud. Garrison Keillor once advised, “If you read your work out loud, it helps to know what’s bad.” Try it. It works. Dialogue always sounds better in your head. Better to be embarrassed in your room than on the set. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Read Your Dialogue Out Loud Writing authentic, well-crafted dialogue that sparkles, individualizes characters, and entertains the reader is the ultimate challenge for screenwriters, who otherwise may have solid script elements. It’s crucial to attracting talent, which can green-light your script. Writing great dialogue can also sell the writer, for those who excel in this area are highly sought after to the tune of six figures per week for dialogue rewrites.

    Biography A five-time Grammy-winning musician, actor, artist, activist and humanitarian, Ziggy Marley has established his presence on the public stage for over a quarter-century. His newest release, Ziggy Marley In Concert, is a collection of live recordings from his 2012 Wild and Free World Tour. The album, which will release digitally on iTunes December 18th before its worldwide physical release on January 15th of 2013, continues to convey Marley’s overall message of love, freedom, hope and challenge. The album features live tracks from his Grammy-nominated and critically acclaimed 2011 release Wild and Free, including the funky and fun-loving “Forward To Love,” the upbeat groove-driven “Reggae in My Head,” and the rock-fueled reggae anthem “Wild and Free.” Live versions of the Bob Marley classics “War” and “Is This Love” also appear on the album as well as Ziggy’s hits “Tomorrow People” and “True To Myself.” In recent years, Marley has been involved in a slew of projects including an extensive world tour that spanned most of 2011 and 2012. Among those dates was a group of themed tribute shows, “Tuff Gong Worldwide and Ziggy Marley Salute the Legends of Reggae,” which played at various Southern California venues in 2012, including a sell-out show at the Hollywood Bowl. Additional projects include serving as executive producer of the celebrated documentary MARLEY(Shangri-La Entertainment), hosting his own monthly radio show, Legends of Reggae, on SiriusXM’s The Joint, and launching a GMO-free food line called Ziggy Marley Organics. In April of 2011, Marley released his first ever comic book, Marijuanaman (Image Comics), which was published on the symbolically potent date of 4/20.
