Donors as of November 19, 2020 9 Dear Friends of Molloy College:

Welcome to the 2020 Molloy Gala, a Livestream Event, and a first for the College. Tonight, we gather together to support student scholarships and are delighted to pay tribute to two outstanding individuals: Wayne and Karen Lipton.

It is an honor to recognize Wayne and Karen Lipton as our Lifetime Achievement honorees. Wayne is a successful businessman, musician, and active member of the Rockville Centre community. For the past fifteen years, he has served as CEO and Managing Partner of Concierge Choice Physicians LLC, a company that he founded, headquartered in Rockville Centre. An accomplished musician as a cellist and conductor, Wayne is dedicated to the Rockville Centre community where he and his wife, Karen, have lived for forty years.

Karen has always supported their community, their temple, education, the arts, and healthcare. Locally, that support has been focused on Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital, Molloy College, the South Shore Symphony, and the Rockville Centre Guild for the Arts. Both Karen and Wayne are extremely grateful that the Guild and the Symphony have a home at the Madison Theater.

We are also delighted to celebrate the many alumni and community leaders who have been on the frontlines fighting against our recent pandemic. We recognize all those that invest in learning and help to carry our mission forward, thereby impacting countless lives in immeasurable ways.

I would also like to extend my appreciation to the event Co-Chairs, Sal Ciampo and Laura Farahani, as well as the gala committee for their time and effort in coordinating tonight’s event and introducing us to new friends.

On behalf of the students, I want to thank you for your generosity that will allow us to continue to provide much needed scholarship funds.

Sincerely,

James P. Lentini, DMA President

10 Friends of Molloy College,

On behalf of the Molloy College Board of Trustees I welcome you to the 2020 Molloy College Galathon as we gather, albeit virtually, to celebrate the mission of Molloy College.

Tonight we honor those members of our alumni and community who have worked tirelessly and selflessly during the COVID-19 pandemic to prevent the spread of the virus, to heal those afflicted with the virus, and to comfort those who have lost family and friends to the virus. Their dedication and commitment provides inspiration to all of us during these difficult times.

We also honor Wayne and Karen Lipton as recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award. Wayne, a former Trustee of the Village of Rockville Centre, is an accomplished musician and a successful businessman, while Karen, the former President of the Rockville Centre Education Foundation, is a Nassau County Senior Assistant District Attorney. Together, they have enriched our community in countless ways, including in particular education and the performing arts.

Finally, I am grateful for the efforts of the Gala co-chairs, Trustees Salvatore Ciampo and Laura Farahani, who, working with the dedicated Gala Committee and advancement team, have made the Galathon a success, allowing the College to provide valuable scholarship funds to deserving students. I am equally grateful to you for your support for this important undertaking, and for your virtual attendance tonight. I hope you enjoy the program.

Sincerely,

John P. McEntee Chairperson, Molloy College Board of Trustees

11 Dear Friends of Molloy College,

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I welcome you to this newly formatted Molloy Galathon 2020.

It is my great honor to serve as one of the two co-chairs of the Mol- loy Galathon this year. I am proud to be able to serve with my ter- rific co-chair, Laura Farahani. I would like to acknowledge the great work done by our wonderful Gala Committee, especially this year utilizing this fabulous new del ivery platform, which was so ably guided by the Molloy Advancement Team, Ed Thompson, Angela Zimmerman, Cynthia Costanzo Metzger. and Angelo Fraboni. These individuals and so many others have worked tirelessly to make this night a great success.

If there is one thing you take away from this evening’s event, I hope it would be the great satisfaction and knowledge that your efforts directly support scholarships for Molloy stu- dents. Know that by your generosity this evening, you have changed the lives of our students for the better in ways you cannot imagine. Not only I, but the entire Molloy community, are eternally grateful to you.

It gives me great joy to congratulate this evening’s honorees Wayne and Karen Lipton receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award. Also let me celebrate all those who in these COVID times are “Success in Action”, especially our students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

Please allow me to express my sincere thanks to all the friends and benefactors of Molloy College for your generosity this evening. Your support for Molloy College scholarships will allow the Molloy College tradition to continue and flourish, especially in these most unusual times.

May God keep us all safe and continue to bless Molloy College, you and your family.

Gratefully,

Salvatore P Ciampo Co-chair

12 Dear Friends of Molloy College,

We want to first and foremost thank you.

In a year that has been like no other we want to extend our gratitude that you are part of this amazing Molloy community. If we are welcoming you for the first time, be assured the Molloy four pillars are not just words on paper. Our longtime supporters, students, staff, faculty, and alumni we appreciate your return and hope you continue to feel the love and concern the Molloy family has to offer.

This year our Gala is “Celebrating Success in Action”. Our students and alumni are and always have been on the frontlines, fighting to keep our community healthy and live the Molloy values in their everyday work. Those who are in hospitals and healthcare settings are the most front and center, but the many others in the Molloy family who are educators, social workers, faculty, and business leaders have been on the front lines too. They are all striving to help pull our communities through this crisis with the care and compassion Molloy is known for.

We ask for your support during these trying times to fund our student scholarships. Our students need you now more than ever; your generosity can mean the difference in their ability to continue their education. The donations received go directly to student scholarships.

This year it is our great pleasure to honor Wayne and Karen Lipton as Lifetime Achievement honorees. They truly embody the community service we strive to inspire at Molloy. Wayne and Karen support the broader Rockville Centre community through their work and philanthropy. They each have a special and passionate dedication to the arts, particularly the South Shore Symphony, the Rockville Centre Guild for the Arts, and our own Madison Theatre. We are grateful for their continued support.

What a year to welcome to our new President, James P. Lentini, DMA. It has been incredible to watch his leadership at such a critical juncture. We welcome Jim and his entire family and look forward to his thoughtful expertise through better times to come.

I want to say a special thank you to my co-chair Salvatore Ciampo and the dedicated Gala Committee in their very creative reinvention of our event and their ability to hold our hands through the technical challenges that came with it. Ed Thompson, Angela Zimmerman, Cynthia Costanzo Metzger, and the entire Advancement Office have really gone above and beyond in addition to Angelo Fraboni and the professionals at the Madison Theatre. Thank you for all your support.

Most sincerely,

Laura Farahani Gala Co-Chair

Wayne is a successful businessman, musician and active member of the RVC community. For the past fifteen years he has served as CEO and Managing Partner of Concierge Choice Physicians LLC, a company that he founded, headquartered in the Rockville Centre. He is not only the principal cellist of the South Shore Symphony, he is its President and the Chairman of the RVC Guild for the Arts. To support the work of former Mayor Eugene Murray, Wayne served as a Trustee and Deputy Mayor of the Village of Rockville Centre (elected in 1999 and 2003). From 1989 to 1999 he was Chairman of the RVC Planning Board. He was a founding member of the RVC Education Foundation and has served on the Boards of both Temple B’nai Sholom Beth David and Central Synagogue -Beth Emeth. The South Shore Symphony came to Molloy College almost ten years ago when then President Drew Bogner offered the Orchestra a home as part of Molloy’s commitment

14 to the community. The volunteer orchestra, comprised of top musicians from all over Long Island, has performed regularly at the Madison Theatre ever since including shows with Keith Emerson, Judy Collins, the Cap 21 students as well as live performances of the Nutcracker Ballet, and four major Opera Productions. The orchestra collaborates with professionals and students in many musical productions and looks forward to doing so for many years to come. Wayne has been married to Karen for 43 years. They raised three children, Adam Lipton who passed away this year, Sarah Lipton Douglass, Senior Director of Marketing for Premium Portfolio for Marriott Corporation, and Alex Lipton, Counsel, Unite Us Corporation. They have one grandchild, Liam Douglass and another on the way.

Karen Lipton

Raised in Queens, Karen earned her BA from Hofstra (’76) and her JD from Hofstra Law School (’79). She served as an Assistant District Attorney under the Hon. Denis Dillon for several years before opting for an 18-year maternity leave to have and raise her three children. During those years, she was active in in the Parent-Teacher Association Council and Special Education Parent-Teacher Association for Rockville Centre Schools. She was honored with the Jenkins Memorial Award along with a lifetime membership in the PTA. Karen was also a board member and President of the Rockville Centre Education Foundation, which is dedicated to enhancing the quality of public education by securing and providing financial resources for school enrichment. She co-chaired the Foundation’s fundraising efforts for a decade. Karen returned to the Office of the District Attorney in 2001 and had the honor of serving under the Hon. Kathleen Rice and, more recently, as a Senior Assistant District Attorney for the Hon. Madeline Singas. Karen and her husband of 43 years, Wayne Lipton, have always supported their community, their temple, education, the arts, and healthcare. Locally, that support has been focused on Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital, Molloy College, The South Shore Symphony and the Rockville Centre Guild for the Arts. She is very grateful that the Guild and the Symphony has a home at the Madison Theater and for the collaboration enjoyed with its director Angelo Fraboni. Karen’s connection to Molloy College is particularly serendipitous. Molloy College was founded in 1955 by the Dominican Sisters of Amityville. Her Aunt, Sister Claire Kalbacher, OP, twin sister of her Dad, the late Kenneth Kalbacher, is a retired Dominican nun residing with the Sisters of St. Dominic in Amityville. Now 97, Aunt Claire is greatly admired and valued by Karen and her family for modeling a life of grace, learning, teaching, and always contributing to the common good. Karen is honored to be recognized by such a venerable institution as Molloy College.
