This hour features music Bird recorded for Norman Granz releases on the Norgran, Mercury & Verve labels in the first half of the 1950s, and several cuts from what’s called “The Greatest Jazz Concert of All Time” at Massey Hall in Toronto with Bird, Dizzy, Bud Powell, Mingus & Max Roach on May 15, 1953. Bird passed away at the age of 34 just two years later, on March 12, 1955. Bird lives!
