Morocco has one of the highest levels of biodiversity and endemism in the Western Palaearctic, which is mainly attributable to the country’s complex topographic and climatic patterns that favoured allopatric speciation. Taxonomic studies of Moroccan amphibians and reptiles have increased noticeably during the last few decades, including the recognition of new species and the revision of other taxa. In this study, we provide a taxonomically updated checklist and notes on nomenclatural changes based on studies published before April 2020. The updated checklist includes 130 extant species (i.e., 14 amphibians and 116 reptiles, including six sea turtles), increasing considerably the number of species compared to previous recent assessments. Arabic names of the species are also provided as a response to the demands of many Moroccan naturalists. Keywords. Most of the studies in wildlife are focused on mammals and birds. This paper presents the results of the herpe- tofauna survey in Manaslu Conservation Area in the Central Nepal, conducted with the aim of establishing the baseline on herpetofauna species diversity. The study recorded 16 species of herpetofauna, indicating a highly potential abundance of herpetofauna in the region. The study is first of its kind in establishing the baseline. The information, thus, obtained can be useful for implementing a biodiversity monitoring activities, and current and future conservation efforts. The study also underlines a need of an extensive study of herpetofauna in this region. Abstract. In the herpetological collection of ZFMK 528 scientific species group names are represented by type materi- al. Of these, 304 names are documented by primary type specimens (onomatophores) while for 224 further names sec- ondary type specimens (typoids) are available, ranging chronologically from 1801 to 2010. The list is a shortened pred- ecessor of a comprehensive type catalogue in progress. It lists name bearing types with their catalogue numbers includ- ing information on further type series members also in other institutions, while secondary types are listed only by pres- ence, both in ZFMK and other collections including holotype repositories. Human-modified ecosystems, such as agricultural land, have gained significant attention in terms of the conservation of their native biodiversity. We studied the effectiveness of organic agroe- cosystems in conserving odonate diversity by comparing organic terrace rice cultivation with a nearby natural forest system with streams in Sikkim, Eastern Himalaya, India. We sampled adult odonates using a transect count method (laying six permanent transects) covering two villages (Lingmoo in South Sikkim and Dzongu in North Sikkim), making a total of 48 transect counts. A total of 881 individual odonates representing 31 species under two suborders (16 Anisoptera and 15 Zygoptera) and seven families were recorded during this study. Of these, 20 species representing three families and 18 species represent- ing seven families were observed in terrace rice cultivation and the natural forest system, respectively. Beta diversity estimates showed that the community composition of the odonates differed qualitatively (incidence measure) and quantitatively (abundance measure) between the two land use types. Turnover component (abundance balance in case of abundance based beta diversity measure) had higher contribu- tion in the overall beta diversity, suggesting that one assemblage of species is being replaced by another due to environmental sorting. -

In India, all the three living orders of reptiles have their representatives - Crocodylia (crocodiles), Testudines (turtles and tortoises) and Squamata (lizards and snakes). The diversified climate, varying vegetation and different types of soil in the country form a wide range of biotopes that support a highly diversified reptilian fauna. The Western Ghats, Eastern Himalaya, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are endowed with varied and unique reptilian fauna. The monumental works on Indian reptiles are, ‘The Reptiles of British India’ by Gunther (1864), ‘Fauna of British India - ‘Reptilia and Batrachia’ by Boulenger (1890) and Smith (1931, 1935, 1943). The work of Smith stood the test of time and forms the standard work on the subject. Nepal harbors a high unrecognized reptilian diversity. Information on the diversity and distribution of snakes in the western Nepal are derived from relatively from old literatures. This study updated the diversity and distribution of snakes from the Kaski district based on rescuing activities, field survey and literature review. Altogether 40 species of snake from five families were recorded in the Kaski district. The family Colubridae (70%) had the highest species diversity followed by Elapidae (12.5%), Viperidae (12.5%), Pythonidae (2.5 %), and Typhlopidae (2.5 %) respectively. Based on the IUCN global status of snake, 5 % are vulnerable, 5 % data deficient, 27.5 % are Least Concern and 62.5 % are Not Evaluated. Six species were found new distribution records in Kaski. Four species were the species listed on CITES II. Out of 40 species, 27.5% venomous (2.5 % were venomous but not fatal to human, 12.5% were neurotoxic, 12.5% were hemotoxic which are deadly venomous), 20% were weakly venomous and not fatal to human and 50 % were non-venomous. -

Abo Al-Hussin5 Faculty of Science, Zoology Department, South Valley University Abstract: During the present study, about 294 Mabuya quinquetaeniata (the common name is bean skin, sehlia garraiya), 196 0f Ptyodactylus hasselquistti (the common name is fan footed gecko, bors abukaff,) 60 Tarentola annularis (the common name is Egyptian gecko, white spotted gecko), 30 0f Hemidactylus turicicus (the common name is Turkish gecko, bors manzeli), 106 of Chalcides ocellatus (the common name is eyed shink, Sehlia doffana) and 30 of Chalcides sepsoides (the common name is Audouin's sand; Sehlia nana) were collected from different localities of Qena Governorate which considered as a new locality for this. Two nematode species were found and identified. The first species is Pharyngodon mamillatus which belonging to family Pharyngodonidae Travassos, 1919 and collected from the large intestine of Mabuya quinquetaeniate (38 out 294), Ptyodatctylus hasselquistti (112 out 196), Tarentola annularis (40 out of 60), and Hemidactylus turicicus (120 out of 130), the rate of infections were 12.9% , 57.1%, 80%, 92.3% respectively. The second species is Thelandros sp. which was collected from the large intestine of Chalcides ocellatus, (54 out of 106), Chalcides sepsoides (20 out of 30), Ptyodactus hasselquistti (6 out of 196) and Hemidactylus turicicus (4 out of 130), the rate of infections were 50.9%, 66.6%, 3.06% and 3.07%, respectively. -
