  • Report on the Celebrations of the Third International Day of Yoga In
    Embassy of India Buenos Aires *** Subject: Report on the celebrations of the Third International Day of Yoga in Buenos Aires, Argentina The highlights of the main event for celebrating the Third International Day of Yoga in Buenos Aires, Argentina are detailed below: 2. The event was held on 20 June 2017 at Centro Cultural Kirchner (CCK), a prestigious cultural centre run by the National Government. We utilized at CCK, which allowed simultaneous activities, such as Yoga practice, meditation sessions and conferences. According to our estimates, approximately 10,000 people joined the celebration in Buenos Aires. 3. A website (www.diadelyogaba.com), a Facebook page (www.facebook.com/diadelyogaba) and an Instagram page (@DiadelYogaBA) were launched for this event. An advertising campaign on Facebook attracted a huge number of people. Approximately 6,000 people registered for the event, and it is planned to use their contact details to effectively promote the next event of IDY. 4. Local media was also a key element for promoting the celebration. La Nacion, one of the most read newspapers in Argentina, advertised the event in its online channel LN+. Yoga+ magazine, FM Milenium Radio, Radio Cultura, and Relajemos.com were media partners of the event. 5. The International Day of Yoga in Buenos Aires was also advertised on the Website of the City Government, and on CCK’s website. 6. This event received the wide support of Government officials, with the following attending the event: I. Mr. Sergio Bergman, Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Govt. of Argentina. II. Mr. Marcelo Wechsler, National Deputy. President of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with India.

UNEP has submitted the budget for its Compliance Assistance Programme (CAP) for 2019 at a total costs of US $9,974,000, plus agency support costs of US $797,920.1 The submission contains the 2018 progress report2 and the 2019 work programme. The submission is attached to the present document. 2. At the 81st meeting, the Executive Committee noted the final report of the review of the overall structure of the CAP, and requested UNEP when submitting the CAP budget and work plan for 2019 at the 82nd meeting, to describe, for consideration by the Executive Committee, the operationalization of the proposed changes in the overall CAP structure, in line with relevant previous decisions on the CAP and its funding.3 The proposed CAP work plan is submitted in line with decision 81/38, and proposes to follow the revised three-year 2018-20204 strategy noted at the 80th meeting during the approval of the 2018 budget to accommodate new priorities related to the Kigali Amendment. 3. UNEP also indicated that as part of the UN reform agenda, and in order to streamline capacities in UNEP for further enhancing effective implementation of multilateral environmental agreements, the OzonAction Branch and its CAP is now under the UNEP Law Division based in Nairobi as of 1 July 2018.

Quarante ans après l’édition 1972 au Cameroun, le Gabon et la Guinée équatoriale coorganisent la plus grande manifestation sportive du continent. Contrairement à la CAN 2000 au Nigeria et au Ghana, c’est un mariage de raison qui rassemble Gabonais et Equato-Guinéens. Les deux Fédérations de football ont uni leurs forces pour cette occasion. Le pari est difficile mais il est beau car cette CAN 2012 s’annonce palpitante. Pour la première fois depuis la CAN 1996 et le forfait de la sélection nigériane, le vainqueur est absent lors de la phase finale suivante. Les Pharaons d’Egypte, malgré leurs sept sacres, n’ont pas franchi les éliminatoires, comme les Camerounais (4 trophées), les Nigérians (2 trophées), les Léopards de RD Congo (2) et les Algériens (1). Les équipes du Ghana et de la Côte d’Ivoire, présentes lors de la Coupe du monde 2010, seront donc les favorites du tournoi. Il faudra aussi compter avec le Sénégal et le Maroc qui reviennent fort après avoir manqué la Coupe d’Afrique 2010. Cette toute dernière CAN disputée une année paire permettra aussi au grand public, de découvrir de nouveaux joueurs. Les Botswanais, les Equato-Guinéens et les Nigériens feront leurs tous premiers pas dans la compétition. Souhaitons-leur que cette 28e édition ressemble plus à la très belle CAN 2008 qu’à la décevante CAN 2010.
