Uefa Champions League UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - 2020/21 SEASON MATCH PRESS KITS NSK Olimpiyskiy - Kyiv Tuesday 8 December 2020 21.00CET (22.00 local time) FC Dynamo Kyiv Group G - Matchday 6 Ferencvárosi TC Last updated 07/12/2020 03:02CET UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE OFFICIAL SPONSORS Match background 2 Legend 5 1 FC Dynamo Kyiv - Ferencvárosi TC Tuesday 8 December 2020 - 21.00CET (22.00 local time) Match press kit NSK Olimpiyskiy, Kyiv Match background One of Dynamo Kyiv's most famous former players, Serhiy Rebrov, returns to the Ukrainian capital with his Ferencváros side looking to pip his old club to a place in the UEFA Europa League. • With Barcelona and Juventus proving formidable opposition in Group G, both Dynamo and Ferencváros have picked up a single point to date. That came in an eventful 2-2 draw between the sides in Hungary, meaning Ferencváros either need to win in Kyiv, or draw 3-3 or higher, to take third place ahead of their Ukrainian opponents. • Rebrov enjoyed considerable success as a Dynamo player and coach, although it looked as if his Matchday 2 reunion would be a losing one as goals from Viktor Tsygankov (28 pen) and Carlos De Pena (41) gave his former club a 2-0 half-time lead in Budapest. Tokmac Nguen revived Ferencváros hopes a minute before the hour, however, paving the way for Franck Boli to snatch a point in the 90th minute. Previous meetings • The 1975 European Cup Winners' Cup final at St. Jakob-Park in Basel was the sides' only previous fixture before this season. Valeriy Lobanovskyi's Dynamo ran out comfortable winners to claim their first European trophy, Volodymyr Onyshchenko scoring twice in the first half and Oleh Blokhin sealing their triumph with a third midway through the second period. Form guide Dynamo • After losing 2-0 at home to Juventus on Matchday 1, the Kyiv club followed the draw at Ferencváros with away (1-2) and home (0-4) defeats by Barcelona before a 3-0 loss at Juve last time out. • Dynamo finished as Ukrainian Premier League runners-up behind Shakhtar for the fourth season running in 2019/20, although they did claim a 21st domestic cup, defeating Vorskla Poltava 8-7 on penalties in the final after a 1-1 draw. • In Europe, Bilo-Syni lost to Club Brugge 4-3 on aggregate in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round before moving into the UEFA Europa League group stage, where they were eliminated after finishing third in their section behind Malmö and Copenhagen. • Dynamo kicked off their 2020/21 European campaign with a 2-0 home win against AZ Alkmaar in their one-off third qualifying round tie. They then eased past Gent in the two-legged play-offs (2-1 a, 3-0 h), De Pena scoring in each game. • Dynamo's most successful UEFA Champions League campaign came in 1998/99 when they made it as far as the semi-finals. Thirteen of their subsequent 14 appearances in the competition proper have now ended in the group stage, including in 2016/17, their last campaign before this one, when they finished bottom of their section. • The Kyiv side had gone out in the UEFA Champions League qualifying phase three seasons running before 2020/21. • Defeat by Juventus on Matchday 1 ended Dynamo's six-game unbeaten home run in Europe (W3 D3). • Before drawing at Ferencváros, Dynamo had won all three of their games against Hungarian clubs in UEFA competition, having also beaten MTK Budapest 4-0 in Kyiv and 2-1 in Budapest in the 1989/90 UEFA Cup first round. Ferencváros • Aside from the draw against Dynamo, Ferencváros have lost twice to Barcelona (1-5 a, 0-3 h) and Juventus (1-4 h, 1-2 a) in Group G. • Having claimed their 31st league title – and second in succession – in 2019/20, Ferencváros are making their second appearance in the UEFA Champions League group stage, after 1995/96. • Twenty-five years ago the Hungarian club finished third in a section behind Ajax and Real Madrid, four of their five points coming against Swiss club Grasshoppers – including their sole victory, a 3-0 away win. • All of Ferencváros's next five UEFA Champions League campaigns foundered in the qualifying phase, including in 2019/20 when they came through two rounds only to suffer a heavy defeat against Dinamo Zagreb in the third qualifying round (1-1 a, 0-4 h) – the second leg equalling their biggest home European loss. • Ferencváros went on to defeat Sūduva of Lithuania in the UEFA Europa League play-offs (0-0 a, 4-2 h) before picking up seven points in the group stage to finish third in their section behind Espanyol and Ludogorets. • Rebrov's team scored two or more goals in each of their first four UEFA Champions League matches this season, beating Swedish side Djurgården 2-0 at home in the first qualifying round before 2-1 successes at Celtic and at home to Dinamo Zagreb. They drew 3-3 at Molde in the first leg of their play-off tie and went through on away goals after a scoreless home draw in the return. 2 FC Dynamo Kyiv - Ferencvárosi TC Tuesday 8 December 2020 - 21.00CET (22.00 local time) Match press kit NSK Olimpiyskiy, Kyiv • The most successful of Fradi's 12 previous European Cup campaigns came in 1965/66, when they got as far as the quarter-finals before losing to Internazionale • Ferencváros were unbeaten in nine European away matches (W3 D6) before losing in Barcelona on Matchday 1. • Ferencváros are the first Hungarian club to feature in the UEFA Champions League group stage since Debrecen in 2009/10 – only the country's second appearance after Ferencváros in 1995. • That 1975 meeting with Dynamo was Ferencváros's only previous fixture against a Ukrainian club before this season. Links and trivia • Ferencváros head coach Rebrov was a Dynamo player between 1992 and 2000 and again from 2005 to 2008, winning nine league titles in Ukraine and reaching the 1998/99 UEFA Champions League semi-final. • Rebrov also was Dynamo's head coach between 2014 and 2017, leading them to back-to-back championships in 2015 and 2016 – the club's only league titles since 2009. • In 2015/16 Rebrov led Dynamo to the UEFA Champions League round of 16, their first knockout appearance in the competition since 1998/99. • As Dynamo head coach Rebrov faced their current boss Mircea Lucescu eight times, all when the Romanian was in charge of Shakhtar (W3 D1 L4). • Ferencváros' Ihor Kharatin came through the Dynamo academy, joining the club in 2004. The midfielder played only 11 minutes in the first team, making his solitary appearance in 2014, and left for Metalist Kharkiv on loan two years later. In August 2016 he moved to Zorya Luhansk, scoring nine goals in 81 games before joining Ferencváros in December 2018. • Kharatin played with Denys Garmash, Serhiy Sydorchuk and Vitaliy Buyalskiy at Dynamo. • Kharatin's Zorya team-mates included four current Dynamo players: Oleksandr Karavaev (2016–18), Oleksandr Andriyevskiy (2017–18) and Oleksandr Tymchyk and Bogdan Lednev (both 2018). • Kharatin scored twice in his ten games against Dynamo (W1 D2 L7). • Has also played in Ukraine: Oleksandr Zubkov (Shakhtar Donetsk 2011–20, Mariupol 2018/19 loan) • Ferencváros's Róbert Mak scored the only goal as Slovakia won 1-0 away to Ukraine in a UEFA EURO 2016 qualifier at NSK Olimpiyskiy on 8 September 2014. Media Release World Leagues Forum Schützengasse 4 8001 Zürich Switzerland The World Leagues Forum: “Domestic leagues unanimously reject the super league concept but also request better representation in the football governance” Zurich, Switzerland – 23 April 2021 – Following the recent events on the European breakaway league, the board of the World Leagues Forum (WLF), the association which represents professional football leagues on a world level met today. This board includes the following leagues: Premier League (England), Ligue de Football Professionnel (France), DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga (Germany), Lega Serie A (Italy), Russian Premier League (Russia), LaLiga (Spain), Premier League Soccer (South Africa), LigaPro (Ecuador), Major League Soccer (USA), Liga MX (Mexico), J.League (Japan) and Professional Saudi League (Saudi Arabia). The WLF issues the following statement: “The World Leagues Forum not only rejects the concept of the super league, but also requests better representation of the leagues in football governance. This is the consequence of the lessons which can be drawn from this week’s events: One: The European super league project reflected the money-driven vision a small group of already super rich clubs. This vision has been rejected by everyone in football and outside football. But most importantly, it has been rejected by the fans. It has shown that sport values such as sporting merit and solidarity must always prevail. Two: Any international competition where some clubs would have a permanent right to play without qualifying from domestic leagues is a terrible idea. Not only it disregards the values of sport, but it neglects the importance of domestic competitions from an historical, from an economic, and from a fan perspective.

Previous meetings • The teams have met in 11 previous matches, the last five in the UEFA Champions League group stage. In the most recent meetings before this season, Barcelona won 2-0 at home and 2-1 in Kyiv in 2009/10, Messi scoring in both matches. • Dynamo have won three of those 11 contests overall, most memorably in the 1997/98 UEFA Champions League when a 3-0 home win in Kyiv was followed by a stunning 4-0 success at the Camp Nou in which Andriy Shevchenko scored a hat-trick.
