That came in an eventful 2-2 draw between the sides in Hungary, meaning Ferencváros either need to win in Kyiv, or draw 3-3 or higher, to take third place ahead of their Ukrainian opponents. • Rebrov enjoyed considerable success as a Dynamo player and coach, although it looked as if his Matchday 2 reunion would be a losing one as goals from Viktor Tsygankov (28 pen) and Carlos De Pena (41) gave his former club a 2-0 half-time lead in Budapest. Tokmac Nguen revived Ferencváros hopes a minute before the hour, however, paving the way for Franck Boli to snatch a point in the 90th minute. Previous meetings • The 1975 European Cup Winners' Cup final at St. Jakob-Park in Basel was the sides' only previous fixture before this season. Valeriy Lobanovskyi's Dynamo ran out comfortable winners to claim their first European trophy, Volodymyr Onyshchenko scoring twice in the first half and Oleh Blokhin sealing their triumph with a third midway through the second period. Form guide Dynamo • After losing 2-0 at home to Juventus on Matchday 1, the Kyiv club followed the draw at Ferencváros with away (1-2) and home (0-4) defeats by Barcelona before a 3-0 loss at Juve last time out. • Dynamo finished as Ukrainian Premier League runners-up behind Shakhtar for the fourth season running in 2019/20, although they did claim a 21st domestic cup, defeating Vorskla Poltava 8-7 on penalties in the final after a 1-1 draw. • In Europe, Bilo-Syni lost to Club Brugge 4-3 on aggregate in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round before moving into the UEFA Europa League group stage, where they were eliminated after finishing third in their section behind Malmö and Copenhagen. • Dynamo kicked off their 2020/21 European campaign with a 2-0 home win against AZ Alkmaar in their one-off third qualifying round tie. They then eased past Gent in the two-legged play-offs (2-1 a, 3-0 h), De Pena scoring in each game. • Dynamo's most successful UEFA Champions League campaign came in 1998/99 when they made it as far as the semi-finals. Thirteen of their subsequent 14 appearances in the competition proper have now ended in the group stage, including in 2016/17, their last campaign before this one, when they finished bottom of their section. • The Kyiv side had gone out in the UEFA Champions League qualifying phase three seasons running before 2020/21. • Defeat by Juventus on Matchday 1 ended Dynamo's six-game unbeaten home run in Europe (W3 D3). • Before drawing at Ferencváros, Dynamo had won all three of their games against Hungarian clubs in UEFA competition, having also beaten MTK Budapest 4-0 in Kyiv and 2-1 in Budapest in the 1989/90 UEFA Cup first round. Ferencváros • Aside from the draw against Dynamo, Ferencváros have lost twice to Barcelona (1-5 a, 0-3 h) and Juventus (1-4 h, 1-2 a) in Group G. • Having claimed their 31st league title – and second in succession – in 2019/20, Ferencváros are making their second appearance in the UEFA Champions League group stage, after 1995/96. • Twenty-five years ago the Hungarian club finished third in a section behind Ajax and Real Madrid, four of their five points coming against Swiss club Grasshoppers – including their sole victory, a 3-0 away win. • All of Ferencváros's next five UEFA Champions League campaigns foundered in the qualifying phase, including in 2019/20 when they came through two rounds only to suffer a heavy defeat against Dinamo Zagreb in the third qualifying round (1-1 a, 0-4 h) – the second leg equalling their biggest home European loss. • Ferencváros went on to defeat Sūduva of Lithuania in the UEFA Europa League play-offs (0-0 a, 4-2 h) before picking up seven points in the group stage to finish third in their section behind Espanyol and Ludogorets. • Rebrov's team scored two or more goals in each of their first four UEFA Champions League matches this season, beating Swedish side Djurgården 2-0 at home in the first qualifying round before 2-1 successes at Celtic and at home to Dinamo Zagreb. They drew 3-3 at Molde in the first leg of their play-off tie and went through on away goals after a scoreless home draw in the return. 3 FC Dynamo Kyiv - Ferencvárosi TC Tuesday 8 December 2020 - 21.00CET (22.00 local time) Match press kit NSK Olimpiyskiy, Kyiv • The most successful of Fradi's 12 previous European Cup campaigns came in 1965/66, when they got as far as the quarter-finals before losing to Internazionale • Ferencváros were unbeaten in nine European away matches (W3 D6) before losing in Barcelona on Matchday 1. • Ferencváros are the first Hungarian club to feature in the UEFA Champions League group stage since Debrecen in 2009/10 – only the country's second appearance after Ferencváros in 1995. • That 1975 meeting with Dynamo was Ferencváros's only previous fixture against a Ukrainian club before this season.
