SECOND SUPPLEMENT TO THE GIBRALTAR GAZETTE No. 3,082 of 14th January 1999 LEGAL NOTICE NO. 6 OF 1999 GIBRALTAR COINAGE ACT 1990 KINGS AND QUEENS CROWN COIN NOTICE 1999 In exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 2 of the Gibraltar Coinage Act 1990, and of all other enabling powers, the Governor has issued the following notice - Title 1. This notice may be cited as the Kings and Queens Crown Coin Notice 1999. Issue of new coins 2.(1) New coins of platinum, gold, silver and cupro nickel in the denomination of a Crown and denominations thereof shall be made. (2) In the making of the said coins, the millesimal fineness, or composition of metals, diameters, shapes and other specifications shall be as set out in Part II of the Schedule to the Gibraltar Coinage Act 1990. (3) In the making of the said coins, a remedy (that is, a variation from the standard weight) shall be allowed as set out in the said Part of the Schedule. Design of the coins 3. The design of the coins authorised by this notice shall be as follows - (a) the coin shall bear on the obverse impression the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with the inscription “ELIZABETH II” to the left and the inscription “GIBRALTAR” and the date of the year to the right; (b) the reverse impression shall bear - GIBRALTAR GAZETTE, No 3082, Thursday 14th January 1999 (i) a design of a portrait of King Alfred the Great with the inscription “KING ALFRED THE GREAT 871 - 899” and the value of the coin; or (ii) a design of a portrait of King Canute with the inscription “KING CANUTE 1016 - 1035” and the value of the coin” or (iii) a design of a portrait of King Edward the Confessor with the inscription “KING EDWARD THE CONFESSOR 1042 - 1066” and the value of the coin; or (iv) a design of a portrait of King William I with the inscription “HOUSE OF NORMANDY KING WILLIAM I 1066 - 1087” and the value of the coin; or (v) a design of a portrait of King Richard I with the inscription “HOUSE OF PLANTAGENET KING RICHARD I 1189 - 1199” and the value of the coin; or (vi) a design ofa portrait of King John with the inscription “HOUSE OF PLANTAGENET KING JOHN 1199 - 1216” and the value of the coin; or (vii) a design of a portrait of King Henry V with the inscription “HOUSE OF LANCASTER KING HENRY V 1413 - 1422” and the value of the coin; or (viii) a design of a portrait of King RICHARD III with the inscription “HOUSE OF YORK KING RICHARD III 1483 - 1485” and the value of the coin; or (ix) a design of a portrait of King Henry VIII with the inscription “HOUSE OF TUDOR KING HENRY VIII 1509 - 1547” and the value of the coin; or (x) a design of a portrait of Queen Elizabeth I with the inscription “HOUSE OF TUDOR QUEEN ELIZABETH I 1558 - 1603” and the value of the coin; or 2 GIBRALTAR GAZETTE, No 3082, Thursday 14th January 1999 (xi) a design of a portrait of King Charles I with the inscription “HOUSE OF STUART KING CHARLES I 1625 - 1649” and the value of the coin; or (xii) a design of a portrait of King Charles II with the inscription “HOUSE OF STUART KING CHARLES II 1660 - 1685” and the value of the coin.
