KARANGAHAPE ROAD ENHANCEMENTS CONSTRUCTION UPDATE ISSUE 2: 6 AUGUST 2019 The Karangahape Enhancements project is under way. Work on the next section of the project, from the Mobil on the corner of Ponsonby and Karangahape Roads, up to the corner of Howe Street, will begin on Monday 12 August 2019. This section is expected to take up to five months to complete. Work along Karangahape Road will be undertaken in sections (see below). During the programme, there will be two to three sections under construction at any given time. The project is expected to be completed in late 2020. These works will be undertaken at night as Karangahape Road is a main arterial route during the day. WHAT WE’VE ACHIEVED: Work at the Symonds St end of Karangahape Road is progressing well. Our work crew has been busy undertaking footpath excavations, removal of the planter boxes along the cemetery wall, kerb and channel removal, and creating foundations for the new street lighting. As part of Auckland Council’s Symonds Street cemetery path upgrade, the path through Pigeon Park will be temporarily closed for construction.
