"Like its predecessor, HEATH (plagiarism/outsource), Heath Course Pak exists somewhere between a Project Gutenberg version of Samuel Pepys Diary and a minute-to-minute news feed and blog of Heath Ledger's death. Sad, appropriated, lyrical and confused, the book contains a brief history of recent performance art, a legal defense of plagiarism, the diary of a poetry workshop at the Asian American Writer’s Workshop, an MP3 protest song, and an examination of SMS and GMS technologies as distribution networks for human sadness. Multi-authored, and with numerous text blocks and photos, the revised edition contains 52 pages of new material, an interview, an annotated text, autographed photos of Jackie Chan and Heath Ledger, e-PostIts, COAs, and coffee/tea stains." Milan: Atelier Impopulaire, 2014. First Edition. 20cm x 14cm. 26, 34 pages, [1] fold-out illustration, 1 volume. Lettered wrappers. Text is bilingual, English and Italian.

"Atelier Impopulaire Split #1 consists of an original text by Bruce McClure, an architect and performer based in New York. It is titled Know Thy Instrument, and based on a lecture given by Hollis Frampton on 30 October 1968, then published as A Lecture. Both with his text and projection performance, McClure aims at reflecting upon the body/technology dynamics, the relation with the whole projection apparatus, and the implications deriving from the removal of some of its parts. This all results in a modification of its mechanical structure, thus provoking a systemic abstraction of the obscurity/light duality in the guise of sound patterns." (publisher's blurb)

Alexander Binder

Montreal: Blackdot, 2012. First Edition. 25cm x 20cm. [60] pages, black and white photographs. Illustrated wrappers.

"The Holy Land has been a focal point for pilgrimages since 2000 years. The sites where Jesus and his disciples lived and died, their tombs and their martyrdom have inspired millions of people to make efforts way beyond a regular journey to visit these sacred places. But not only Christianity, also Judaism and Islam find their religious sanctuaries there--and we all have the images of Jerusalem, Mount Calvary or the Sea of Galilee in our collective memory. Due to my interest in any kind of spiritual and occult issues, I wanted to explore the dark crypts of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the utter loneliness in the Judean desert on my own. So I decided to embark on a spiritual journey to the Holy Land in 2011. The photos document my pilgrimage to the buildings and places, where saints and apostles have had their spiritual awakenings many thousand years ago. And, contrary to my assumption, these sites still unfold a spiritual power which you can literally feel " (publisher's blurb)

Merwin Bloch

[Winterthur]: Kunsthalle Winterthur, [2010]. First Edition. 29cm x 22cm. 2 volumes, poster, DVD. Lettered box.

"The Telephone Book is the only film ever produced by Merv Bloch (*1938, lives and works in New York), one of Hollywoods most acclaimed art directors and public relations managers. Shot in 1971, it is miles away from the then current New Hollywood trend in commercial cinema, but instead indulges itself in the visual spirit of the glamorous New York Pop Art scene. The story is about Alice, a pretty, young girl who falls in love with 'the world's greatest obscene phone call'. The movie was shown in New York and Los Angeles in only two cinemas in each; it was a complete failure and only survived in the memory of a few as a disappeared cult movie. In 2008 Florian Lambl and Moritz Peters from Hello Film in Berlin found a short clip on youtube; they got in touch with Merv Bloch, found a still existing copy of the film and produced a catalogue including a DVD. The show at Kunsthalle presents vintage film stills, the complete shooting script, various documents and of course the film itself. In collaboration with Hello Film a special limited edition of the catalogue has been published to accompany the exhibition." (publisher's blurb) Signed and numbered edition of 150, of which this is number 125. TERRIBLY AWESOME PHOTO BOOKS

Paul Kooiker; Erik Kessels

[Gent]: Art Paper Editions, 2012. First Edition. 37cm x 30cm. [64] pages, colour photographs. Unbound folded newspaper.

"For several years, Paul Kooiker and Erik Kessels have organized evenings for friends in which they share the strangest photo books in their collections. The books shown are rarely available in regular shops, but are picked up in thrift stores and from antiquaries. The group’s fascination for these pictorial non- fiction books comes from the need to find images that exist on the fringe of regular commercial photo books. It’s only in this area that it’s possible to find images with an uncontrived quality. What’s noticeable from these publications is that there’s a thin line between being terrible and being awesome. This constant tension makes the books interesting. It’s also worth noting that these tomes all fall within certain categories: the medical, instructional, scientific, sex, humour or propaganda. Paul Kooiker and Erik Kessels have made a selection of their finest books from within this questionable new genre." (publisher's blurb)

Robert Montgomery

Berlin: mono.kultur, 2012. First Edition. 49cm x 33cm. [108] pages, colour photographs, 3 volumes, postcard. Unbound folded sheets, pictorial oversize envelope folder.

"For lack of a better word, there is a profoundly magical moment in the works of Robert Montgomery: In the middle of the street, we might come across his words and realise that someone is speaking with us--through an anonymous poem between advertising billboards or as an unidentified page in a magazine, or a light installation illuminating the night. But while introducing poetry as sparkles of beauty into the public realm, presenting words as living part of our environment, Robert’s words and works have a tendency to linger in our memory for a long time as they slowly unfold. His poems are an archive of moments that poignantly capture the way it feels to live at this moment in time. They articulate, reprehend and simultaneously celebrate our shared experience of modern life. 'Echoes of Voices in the High Towers' is the first comprehensive publication of Robert Montgomery’s work. Referencing the scale of his public interventions, all images are presented in full colour in a momentous A2 format, folding out to A1. The publication is divided into three separate booklets. Every Morning Now: A selection of Robert Montgomery’s work between 2004 and 2012. Echoes of Voices in the High Towers: A complete documentation of the eponymous project in Berlin, Summer 2012. Alive in the Sunlight: Two conversations, in 2008 and 2012, with Robert Montgomery. The booklets are delivered in a white cardboard envelope, with an additional postcard included." ECOCORE IV: G( )D

Alessandro Bava

: Ecocore, 2016. First Edition. 21cm x 15cm. 94 pages, colour illustrations. Pictorial wrappers.

A bi-annual ecology art zine exploring the camouflaged souls of ecology. "The G( )D issue seeks to explore G( )D as an ethical mechanism within deep ecology, biocentrism and nature’s profound mysteries. Deep ecology has emerged as a ‘secular’ proposal to reinstate spiritual intimacy and reverence for the earth. While nature has theoretically ended we enter into the new ideological sphere of ‘environmentalism’ which is directly subject to human action. Environmental crisis changes the basic facts behind the spiritual meaning of the world around us; presented as God’s creation, ‘nature’ and what it signifies metaphysically has been perverted. In an age where fanatical and self-righteous lifestyle choices a la Gwenyth Paltrow, kale tribes, health ‘binges’, plant medicine retreats tenuously abate a sense of guilt within consumerism." "Psychological injuries and trauma suffered during childhood are extremely common. They lead to all sorts of addictive behaviors, as well as anxiety, depression, and debilitating and life-threatening physical maladies. In Healing with Psychedelics Chris writes about how to recognize the often-hidden histories that caused us as children to create a false self and changed how we operate in this world. He then takes us on his personal healing journey, revealing the details of his own experience and describing the process of psychedelic-assisted sacred-medicine therapy. It is his hope that his example will encourage others to seek and realize profound transformation for themselves." (publisher's blurb)
