ENTRY POINT NORTH - ATS ACADEMY 3x LOCATION AND CONTACT DETAILS LOCATION OF ENTRY POINT NORTH Entry Point North is located at Malmö-Sturup Airport in the heart of the beautiful southern Swedish province of Skåne (Scania), which is connected to Copenhagen in Denmark by the Öresund Bridge. The academy occupies more than 6,700 m2 of specially equipped training facilities. Right next to the Entry Point North building is the control tower for Malmö-Sturup Airport as well as the Air Traffic Control Centre for the southern part of Sweden.

x4 TRAINING WITHOUT BOUNDARIES TRANSPORT The proximity to Copenhagen International Airport makes Malmö, Lund and Entry Point North easily accessible by train, plane, bus and car. This chapter advises how to travel between Copenhagen Airport, Malmö & and Lund city and Entry Point North by public transport and car/taxi.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT FROM COPENHAGEN AIRPORT Taking the train to Malmö or Lund You can take the train (called Öresundståg) from Copenhagen Airport to Malmö Hyllie station, Malmö Central Station, Malmö and Lund Central Station. Please check before your arrival which station is closest to your accommodation. The train journey takes only 20-25 minutes (Malmö, depending on your destination station) or 30 minutes (Lund). However, prolonged travel time may occur because of regular ID checks that take place at Hyllie Station in Sweden.

A one-way train ticket costs 120 SEK* (to Malmö Central Station) or 150 SEK* (to Lund Central Station). You can purchase one in the Skånetrafiken app (see page 7), at the ticket booth or at the Skånetrafiken ticket machine at Copenhagen Airport before you board the train. Both credit card and cash are accepted. Please note that it is not possible to purchase tickets on the train.

Taking the train/bus to Entry Point North To go from Copenhagen Airport to Entry Point North, you can take the train to Malmö (see section above) and then continue your journey by bus. To learn more about travelling from Malmö to Entry Point North, please see the following section.

ENTRY POINT NORTH - ATS ACADEMY 5x From the bus stop to Entry Point North The bus stops in front of Malmö Airport’s terminal entrance. To get to the academy, you need to walk towards the ATC tower, where you will see the Entry Point North building across the street. Turn left into Västerlånggatan and after approximately 50 metres turn right. It is just a 5 minute walk from the terminal.

Buying your bus ticket There are several ways of buying tickets for the Flygbuss: >> At Pressbyrån shops. There are many of these shops, including some conveniently located at Lund Central Station, Malmö Central Station and inside the departure terminal at Malmö Airport. >> At Skånetrafiken customer centres, which are located both at Malmö and Lund Central Stations and also at Triangeln Station in Malmö. >> On the bus. Tickets can only be bought by card: no cash is accepted. >> In advance via internet. It is often cheaper than the options above. www.flygbussarna.se >> By using your jojo card (public transport card) loaded with “Län Skåne plus Sturup 30D”. You can buy a jojo card at a Skånetrafiken customer centre, though in some cases Entry Point North provides it: please check the course information you obtained from your course administrator before purchasing one.Please note that you cannot use your jojo-card for the Flygbuss unless you have the Sturup 30D ‘top up’: without it you should buy a ticket instead. 2 The 30-day ticket is valid from a start date of your choice, and is the most economical option if you are travelling to and from our academy over a longer period of time. The jojo card ‘top up’ you need to buy is called “Län Skåne plus Sturup 30D”, which you can use to travel on all busses and trains within the Skåne region including the Flygbuss to the airport. The first time you buy the card has to be at Skånetrafiken Customer Centre located at Malmö Central Station, Malmö Triangeln Station or Lund Central Station. At the counter you will need to show your student confirmation letter: ask your course administrator to send it to you in advance. You will receive a jojo card and a receipt which you both need to show to the bus driver when entering the bus.

Please note that you might need to show a valid ID before entering Sweden, which can prolong your travel time. >> Take the E22 motorway over the Öresund Bridge and continue along the E22 for 19.3 km >> Then turn onto route E65 towards Ystad and Malmö Airport (called Sturup) >> Drive for 17.2 km, then turn left at the roundabout towards Sturup onto Södra Sturupsvägen and continue for 3.4 km >> Turn right at Västerlångvägen, where you should be able to see the ATC tower and Entry Point North’s building

Travelling by taxi from Malmö or Lund to Entry Point North It costs approximately 400 SEK* for 1-4 people to take a taxi from Malmö Central Station or Lund Central Station to Malmö Airport.

PARKING AT MALMÖ AIRPORT When travelling to Entry Point North by car, you need a special parking permit to park in the airport area. Please contact your course administrator after receiving your official course invitation and ask for a student confirmation letter.

Upon showing this letter at the Visitor Centre which is located at Malmö Airport’s terminal, you can purchase one of the following parking permits: >> One-day parking permit, which costs 25 SEK* >> Monthly parking permit, which costs 100 SEK* (Entry Point North’s students are entitled to a 55% discount from the regular price of 220 SEK*). You can purchase this parking permit for one month at a time. Please note that the monthly parking permit is always valid for a calendar month, not for 30 days.

ENTRY POINT NORTH - ATS ACADEMY 9x GETTING AROUND AT ENTRY POINT NORTH BUILDING DESCRIPTION Entry Point North’s building has two floors and is equipped with an elevator. There is a variety of rooms where you will spend most of your time:

Simulator rooms At Entry Point North Malmö there are 90 simulator positions, eight 180° TWR 3D simulators, one 360° TWR 3D simulator and one 270°/360° TWR 3D simulator.

Classrooms All classrooms are equipped with a computer, projector, whiteboard and access to the internal network. Standard classrooms within Entry Point North seat 20 students, while the two larger lecture rooms can accommodate up to 40 people.

Conference rooms There are three large and five smaller conference rooms. All rooms are equipped with whiteboards, and TV’s or projectors.

Kitchens There are two kitchens – one on each floor – for use by students, instructors and other staff. The kitchens are equipped with microwave ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers, cutlery and crockery, etc. We offer complimentary coffee, tea, and fresh still/sparkling water on both floors.

Communal areas On both floors there are areas equipped with sofas and tables for communal use by instructors, students and employees. On the upper floor there is a number of small study rooms (“cells”) equipped with computers.

Building security The building is locked for your safety. On your first day you will receive a badge that will enable you to get in and out. If you have not been issued with a badge or do not have your badge with you, reception desk staff can let you in. You are welcome to stay in the building before or after class if you like. The automatic alarm system is activated during the late evening and night.

12x TRAINING WITHOUT BOUNDARIES HOUSE RULES Please remember that many people – students, consultants and permanent staff – share the space within the building. In order for everyone to feel comfortable, we have simple house rules that we ask everyone to abide by.

Kitchen areas are provided for eating and drinking. Bringing food and 1 drinks into the classrooms is at the discretion of the course supervisors. Please note: food and drinks are never permitted in the simulation areas.

Don’t forget to take your belongings when leaving the classrooms and 2 simulators. Rearrange the chairs, tables and equipment back to the way you found them. Please place litter in the bins.

Dispose of all empty paper coffee cups in the bins provided. Keep the 3 kitchen area clean and tidy: wipe up food or drink spillages and put dirty plates and cutlery in the dishwasher. If it is full, wash dirty plates and cutlery manually instead of leaving them in the sink.

4 Please do not put feet or shoes on the tables or sofas. Sleeping is not allowed on the sofas.

The classroom computers are used for lessons only and are not intended for general internet surfing. Personal internet usage may be carried out 5 using the student computers provided or the computers in the computer room when they are available.

6 Be on time for lessons, simulator exercises and other common activities. Come prepared for the session. Bring with you the things you may need.

Switch off your mobile phone or put it in silent mode silent during 7 lessons, as mobile phone signals can cause interference to simulators nearby. Always switch off your phone when you are in the simulator.

Leave any outdoor clothes in the designated area or in your locker. To 8 protect the floor in the simulators, wear shoe protection during winter months.

9 Take care of the academy’s material and equipment.

10 Pets are not allowed in the academy.

ENTRY POINT NORTH - ATS ACADEMY 13x FOOD & REFRESHMENTS There are fridges and microwave ovens in Entry Point North’s kitchens on both floors, so you can bring your own lunch. If you prefer to go out for lunch, there are several options available.

There is a restaurant at the airport terminal called Husmans at that serves a daily menu for 84 SEK* (discounted price when you show your Entry Point North card). The menu contains a choice of two warm dishes, a salad buffet, beverages and coffee. You can purchase a 10-lunch card for 840 SEK*, getting the 11th lunch for free.

Inside the departures terminal you can also find two small shops called Pressbyrån and 7-eleven that offer fast food such as hot dogs, freshly baked bread, pizza, pasta, pastries and sandwiches.

14x TRAINING WITHOUT BOUNDARIES STUDENT SUPPORT AND CONFIDENTIALITY GROUP The student support and confidentiality group is a forum that that consists of Entry Point North employees who provide students with individual support. Because group members are not involved in student assessment, students can feel free to discuss any important matter with them. The group members are not psychologists, but they are there to give students individual support and a listening ear when needed.

ENTRY POINT NORTH - ATS ACADEMY 15x IN CASE OF EMERGENCY EVACUATION INSTRUCTIONS All course supervisors, teachers, instructors, employees and students at Entry Point North are expected to know about preventive fire protection and what is required of them if there is a fire alarm or they discover a fire.

You must be aware of the location of the nearest emergency exit and escape route, the location of the nearest fire extinguisher and the locations of the assembly point.

When you hear the fire alarm: >> You must leave the building through the nearest emergency exit or escape route. >> You must head to the assembly point, situated in front of the main entrance (see the building map on page 11) which is marked by a blue sign reading ASSEMBLY POINT. Wait here for further instructions.

It is the responsibility of all to help each other, check that the fire alarm is noticed, and check the area close to you. However, do not risk your own life.

EMERGENCY CONTACTS Emergency services You can contact the emergency services (Fire/Rescue, Ambulance or Police) by dialling 112. The non-urgent number for contacting the police is (040) 11414.

Medical care If you need to visit a doctor or dentist but it is not an urgent case, please contact your training supervisor or administrator for advice. If you need urgent medical assistance, call 112. A lot of useful information about Swedish healthcare can be obtained by calling 1177, the “1177 Vårdguiden” service, or online. www.1177.se

A hospital is called “Sjukhus” in Sweden. In Malmö and Lund you can visit ‘Skånes Universitetssjukhus’. In Malmö city the address is Södra Förstadsgatan 101, 205 02 Malmö. In Lund city the address is Getingevägen 4, 221 85 Lund. www.skane.se/sus

Pharmacies The pharmacies are called “Apotek” and are open on Mondays to Fridays from 9:00 to 18.00 and on Saturdays from 10.00 to 14.00. The pharmacy “Apoteket Gripen” on Bergsgatan 48 is open seven days a week between 8.00 and 23.00.

Sweden has stricter rules regarding over-the-counter purchase of medicines than many other European countries - a doctor’s prescription is needed to purchase medicines that you may be used to buying over the counter back home.

16x TRAINING WITHOUT BOUNDARIES LIVING IN SWEDEN PRACTICALITIES Currency exchange, money transfer and banks At the Forex Exchange Office you can exchange currencies free of charge. The branch located within Malmö Central Station is open on Monday to Friday from 7.00 to 20.00, and on Saturday and Sunday from 9.00 to 18.00. There is a currency exchange office at Malmö Airport as well. www.forex.se

Groceries In the morning hours, Möllevångenstorget (Möllevång square) hosts a fruit and vegetable market every day except for Sunday. Supermarkets are located all over the city centre, the biggest ones are Coop, ICA, Hemköp and Lidl. Aside from bars and restaurants, the sale of drinks with an alcohol content greater than 3.5% is restricted to specialised state-owned shops called Systembolaget. www.systembolaget.se/English

Please note that the ticket machines are not available at all bus stops. >> Skånetrafiken centres or newsagents (7-Eleven, Pressbyrån, etc.) >> Website or app – you can purchase your ticket with a credit card online or via Skånetrafiken’s mobile phone application.www.skanetrafiken.se >> If you have a jojo card 30-day top up (‘Skåne plus Sturup 30D’, see ticket pricing information on page 7), you can travel with all busses and trains in the Skåne region without extra charge. >> If you have a jojo card without top up you can use it by loading it with money and then pay with it by checking in when you enter the bus. >> On board - only possible for busses and by using a card: cash is not accepted. Bike rental Malmö is a bicycle friendly city – you will see many people cycling around the city, even during winter. Maps of bicycle routes are available from the tourist office. ENTRY POINT NORTH - ATS ACADEMY 19x THINGS TO DO Malmö is the commercial centre of southern Sweden and an international city. It is Sweden’s third largest city with a population of 320,000 people and features many attractions dating back to the Middle Ages. Malmö has more parks, gardens and restaurants per capita than any other city in Sweden, so don’t worry about getting bored!

Tourist Information The tourist information office is located at Malmö Central Station area (Börshuset, Skeppsbron 2). Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 17.00.

Cinema- In Sweden foreign movies are always shown in the original language with Swedish subtitles (movies are not dubbed), which makes it easy for foreigners who stay in Sweden to see movies that were produced in the English language. There is a swimming centre called with one 50-metre long pool, two training pools, family pools with water slides and a relaxation area that is equipped with a sauna, cold and warm water pools, and an outdoor pool. Shopping Malmö has a large selection of designer boutiques as well as young, trendy fashion shops. The pedestrian walking area where most of the shops are located stretches from the Main Square (Stortorget) through Gustav Adolf Square and further down Södra Förstadsgatan to Triangeln and Möllevången. Most of the area is free from traffic. Generally, shops are open on Monday to Friday from 10.00 to 18.00, Saturday from 10.00 to 16.00 and Sunday from 12.00 to 15.00.

Restaurants and nightlife During your stay in multicultural Malmö, you will be able to taste food from many different countries: from take-away to exclusive restaurants. There are many different bars, pubs, clubs and other nightlife venues in Malmö. The busiest meeting place in the evenings is Lilla Torg. ENTRY POINT NORTH - ATS ACADEMY 21x Go on a trip around the Öresund The Öresund is the strait that separates the western part of Denmark from Skåne, the lower province of Sweden. At every Skånetrafiken office you can buy an ‘Öresund round ticket’ (299 SEK*), which lets you make a round trip by public transport along the Öresund in both Denmark and Sweden. There are a lot of nice cities and other points of interest to explore, such as Copenhagen, the famous Louisiana Museum (in Humlebæk), the city of Helsingør along with its castle that is the scene of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, the sights of the old city of Helsingborg, and Lund. You can make the round in any direction and will cross the Öresund by Ferry (Helsingør – Helsingborg) and the Öresund Bridge (Copenhagen – Malmö). The ticket is valid for 48 hours and the only limitation is that you are not allowed to change your travelling direction and ‘back-track’.

Visit Copenhagen – the capital of Denmark The regional Öresund train between the central stations of Malmö and Copenhagen run every 20 minutes during the day, and hourly in the evening and at night. The Malmö-Copenhagen trip over the magnificent Öresund Bridge takes 35 minutes. Oresund train tickets can be purchased a bit cheaper if you have a jojo card. www.visitcopenhagen.com

Visit Lund – students’ city in Skåne Lund is characterised by its rich cultural and historical heritage, state-of-the-art scientific research & development and bustling business climate. It is a place where academia, business, culture and nature thrive within cycling distance from each other. Train tickets can be purchased significantly cheaper if you have a jojo card. www.lund.se
