LSU Libraries Special Collections Louisiana State University Hill Memorial Library Baton Rouge, LA 70803 O (225) 578-6544 F (225) 578-9425 Index of Sheet Music in the LSU Libraries Special Collections Introduction Special Collections’ holdings of music‐related materials is rich in nineteenth‐ and early twentieth‐century American sheet music, much of it published in New Orleans, once a center of the U.S. music publishing industry. Eight boxes of music, containing more than 600 pieces published in Louisiana between 1830 and 1940, are cataloged as Music Collection of New Orleans Imprints. Several other collections of sheet music are also available. The Miscellaneous Sheet Music Collection is an artificial grouping of all sheet music accessioned after 2011. Be aware that a large quantity of sheet music published in Louisiana is held in manuscript collections and not indexed here. See the manuscript collections subject guide on the Performing Arts at http://www.lib.lsu.edu/special/research/msg.php for more information. This index also does not include the James H. Snakenberg Collection of Sheet Music (approximately 700 pieces, mostly non‐Louisiana related, bulk 1910‐1974), a separate index to which is available in the Special Collections Reading Room. For further information, contact the Reference Department at (225) 578‐6568. If requesting photocopies or digital scans, please provide title and box/item/volume number, if given.
