he Midland Metro Alliance has been developed to implement a GBP1.2bn (approx. EUR1.4bn) ten-year programme of tram enhancement works that Twill deliver a lasting legacy of social and economic regeneration for the UK’s West Midlands conurbation. The original Midland Metro system began operations in 1999, with 20.1km (12.5 miles) running mainly along the former railway line between Birmingham Snow Hill and Wolverhampton, with a short section of on-street running along Bilston Road to the terminus at St. Georges.
