The Moses Family from Ropperhausen (Grossropperhausen) and Frielendorf
The only Moses we know about Ropperhausen was named in a tax-list from 20.07.1675, There is written, that he emigrated emigrated from Vienna where all Jews had been expelled in 1671. He settled in Ropperhausen since 1674 under protection of Rudolf von Gilsa. His son Hirsch Moses, was born in 1676 in Ropperhausen. Hirsch Moses' oldest son moved to Neukirchen, from where the descendants emigrated into the USA. His second son Moses Hirsch, born 1712, got a protective letter for Ropperhausen after his father died.

9. Guetel Moses, born in 1770 in Ropperhausen.She was married first to Isaac Meyer from Spangenberg. Guetel and Isaac Meyer had two sons:

10. Abraham Moses, born 1771, he was wholesale dealer with cattle. He married in 1806 Rebekka Rose (Schafti, Simon), born 1781 in Naumburg. Abraham and Rebecka Moses had nine children:

Abraham Moses bought a house in Treysa in 1815 and settled tehre on 13.07.1817. In 1833 Abraham and Rebekka Moses returned to Ropperhausen. Abraham Moses died on 30.03.1849 in Ropperhausen.Rebekka Moses died on 27.04.1873 in Ropperhausen.
11. Elle Moses, born in 1780 in Ropperhausen, she was married to Heli Levi Wertheim, born 1770 in Breitenbach near Bebra. Elle and Heli Levi Wertheim had four children:

13. Moses Joseph Hecht, born in Freudenthal (near Borken), son of Joseph Isaac Hecht from Freudenthal. He got the permit to setlle in Frielendorf on 01.01.1787, where he traded with some goods. He married Scheine. Moses Joseph and Scheine had six children:

15. Salomon Moses, born 19.11.1798 in Ropperhausen, he was a cattle dealer. He married on 04.09.1834 in Dillich at the age of 36 Jettchen Heinemann, 30 years old, born 1805 in Dillich, daughter of David Heinemann and his wife Sarchen, nee Israel. Salomon and Jettchen Moses had four daughters:

Salomon Moses died on 08.02.1840 at the age of 42 in Ropperhausen. Jettchen Moses moved with her youngest daughter Salomonine from Ropperhausen to Schwarzenborn, where her eldest daughter Breinchen was married to Meier Wallach. Jettchen Moses died in Schwarzenborn on 13.04.1859.
17. Ephraim Moses, born 21.10.1804 in Ropperhausen, he was cattle dealer. He married first on 29.07.1839 Fradchen Lehrberger, from Borken, 22 years old, daughter of Baehr Lehrberger. Ephraim and Fradchen Moses had five children:

18. Reischen Moses, born in1807 in Ropperhausen, she was married on 29.04.1835 in Borken to Mendel Kaufmann, born 29.04.1808 in Borken, butcher, son of Suesel Kaufmann and his wife Berte, nee Liebmann. Roeschen and Mendel Kaufmann had a son:

19. Abraham Moses (III), born 05.01.1809 in Ropperhausen, he was cattle dealer. He married on 12.01.1842 Roeschen Hohenberg, 28 years old, from Karlshafen, daughter of Simon and Hanchen Hohenberg. Abraham and Roeschen Moses had five children:

36. Hirsch Moses, born 29.07.1822 in Treysa, he was a cattle dealer. He married on 19.11.1850 at the age of 26 Guetchen Jettchen Traub, 22 years old, born 12.03.1827 in Oberaula, daughter of Moses Wallach Traub and his wife Ettel, nee Heinemann. Hirsch and Jettchen Moses had two children:

After 1852 the family moved to Frielendorf. Hirsch Moses died on 12.11.1854 at the age of 33 years, 3 months and 17 days in Frielendorf. Jettchen Moses died on 16.10.1901 at the age of 74 years in Frielendorf. Both are buried on the old Jewish cemetery of Frielendorf.

Juda Moses, born 08.05.1869 in Frielendorf, he married at the age of 27 on 07.10.1896 in Kassel Friederike Rebekka Stern, 25 years old, born 06.10.1871 in Ziegenhain, daughter of Hermann Stern and his wife Eva Lea Helene, nee Katzenberg. Juda and Friederika Moses had a shoeshop in Frielendorf, Hauptstrasse 110 (today No. 60), they lived in Frielendorf, Witze no. 56. They had five children:

The family moved to Kirchhain. Juda Moses died on 14.07.1935 in Kirchhain. Friederike Moses moved on 17.03.1937 to Kassel and lived there in Grosse Rosenstrasse 20 and Moltkestrasse 6. On 27.01.1942 she was arrsted in Wartekuppe camp. On 07.09.1942 she was deported from Kassel to Theresienstadt and from there on 29.09.1942 to Treblinka, where she was murdered.
387. Bertha Moses, born 22.07.1878 in Frielendorf, she was married to David Feiertag, born 24.01.1878 in Aldenau (Odolanow) Poland. They emigrated into the USA and lived in Newark, New Jersey. The had a daughter:

396. Klara Frank, born 09.05.1896 in Ropperhausen. She emigrated in 1912 into the USA and married on 25.08.1918 in New York Ferdinand Danziger, born 1888 in Berlin, son of Louis Danziger. Klara and Ferdinand Danziger had a daughter:

The family spent a short time in 1923 in Berlin and came back to New York on 10.12.1923.
397. David Theo Frank, born 28.07.1902 i Ropperhausen, he emigrated into the Netherlands. He was arrested in Wetserbork and from there deported in 1942 to Auschwitz, where he was murdered on 13.01.1943.
399. Louis Frank, born 04.09.1907 in Ropperhausen. He emigrated into the Netherlands. He was arrested in Westerbork and from there on 06.04.1943 deported to Sobibor, where he was murdered on 09.04.1943.
402. Rosa Loewenstern, born 13.12.1902 in Affoldern. She was married on 18.10.1925 in Affoldern to Louis Schoenthal, born 01.04.1895 in Marienhagen, son of the merchant Moses Schoenthal and his wife Regine nee Katzenstein. Rosa and Louis Schoenthal lived in Marienhagen. They had a daughter:

403. Klara Loewenstern, born 20.03.1904 in Affoldern. She lived in Weisbaden and in Neu Berich (Bathildesheim, Hasu Waldfrieden). She was deported on 25.09.1940 to the mental sanatory in Giessen and from there on 01.10.1940 to Brandenburg/Havel, where she was murdered (Euthanasie).
404. Frieda, Loewenstern, born 30.01.1907 in Affoldern. She was married on 12.11.1932 to Abraham Albert Goldberg, born 19.06.1901 in melsungen, son of Salomon Goldberg and his wife Malchen, nee Stern. They lived in Affoldern and moved in April 1933 to Korbach.They had a coal shop in Elfringhaeuser Weg 4. They had a son:

In July 1937 the family moved to Kassel.they all were deported on 01.06.1943 from Kassel to Majdanek. Albert Goldberg died there on 23.09.1942.
405. Aenne Selma Loewenstern, born 04.10.1909 in Affolern. She was married on 24.02.1937 in Kassel to Ludwig Dannenberg. Born 01.04.1907 in Kassel, son of Moses Victor Markus Dannenberg and his wife Emma, nee Wolff.They emigrated on 23.03.1937 to Chicago.
407. Sidonia/Toni Spier, born 05.09.1906 in Momberg. She was married to Ernst Jakob from Schmalkalden. Sidonia and Ernst Jakob emigrated to Palenstine. They lived and died in Jerusalem.
408. Kaethi Spier, born 29.07.1907 in Momberg. She was married to Rene Gregpore. Kaethi and Rene Gregpore emigrated in 1934 to Paris.
409. Ruth Spier, born 19.01.1909 in Momberg. She was married in 1941 to Ludwig Lion from Nordeck. Ruth Lion was deported on 08.12.1941 from Marburg to Riga. She survived and came back to Momberg in 1945.
410. Frieda Stern, born 22.04.1898 in Frankershausen, she was married to Isaak Stern, born 24.02.1885 in Abterode. Frieda and Isaak Stern lived in Abterode. They had two sons:

411. Selma Stern, born 29.03.1900 in Frankershausen, she was married to Julius Braunschweiger, born 22.08.1895 in Burghaun, son of Daniel Braunschweiger and his wife Paula, nee Stern (from Netra). Julius Braunschweiger took part in WWI. He was seriously wounded and had a tendency towards epileptic fits. Selma and Julius Braunschweiger lived in Burghaun, Schlossstrasse, in 1935 Ringstrasse 14. They had three children:

From 19.09.1941 till 06.12.1942 he was arrested in Breitenau because he had picked berries in the wood. On 08.12.1942 Julius, Selma and Alfred Braunschweiger were deported to Riga. 422. Ernst Moses, born 19.12.1922 in Frielendorf. He escaped by a Kindertransport to England in 1937. From there he emigrated into the USA, he married Ellie, Ernst and Ellie Moses lived in Boynton Beach, Florida, USA. They visited Frielendorf in 1997. Ernst Moses died died on 30.06.2000 by lung cancer.
428. Erich Abraham, born 25.04.1905 in Kassel, he married on 09.04.1927 in Kassel Margarete Adelheid Friederike Lina Voigt, born 29.06.1906 in Hoexter. (Thiele, a.a.O., p. 563)
430. Hans Marburger, born 28.05.1921 in Peine. He was shot on 08.11.1938, when he tried to help his parents against an attack in their house. His body was burned in the syngagoge of Peine by the Nazis. A street in Peine was called after his name.
435. Martin Moses, born 26.12.1931 in Grossropperhausen. He emigrated into the USA and married there Linda Barker. Martin and Linda Moses had three sons:

446. Ruth Spira, born 29.05.1926 in Vienna, Austria. She was married on 20.06.1953 to Alfred Siron, 14.10.1923 in Kemnitz (Greifswald). Ruth and Alfred Siron had two children.
450. Ernst Levy, born 25.06.1912 in Kassel, he moved from Kassel to Cologne and emigrated into the Nertherlands. He was arrested in Westerbork and deported from there on 13.07.1943 to Sobibor, where he was murdered on 16.07.1943.
452. Eva Moses, born 31.08.1926 in Wolfenbuettel, she emigrated in 1938 with her parents into the USA and merried in 1952 in Brooklyn Max Dieter Bach. Eva and Max Dieter Bach moved in 1954 to Norwich, N.Y. Tzhey had two daughters. Eva Bach died on 17.02.2014 in Norwich.
454. Ruth Plaut, born 08.03.1921 in Frielendorf. She emigrated with her parents into the USA and moved later to Argentina. She was married in 1949 to Lutz Rosenblatt. Ruth and Lutz Rosenblatt had two daughters. Lutz Rosenblatt died in 1977 in Avigdor, Argentinia.
455. Gotthelf Joseph Plaut, born 08.08.1924 in Frielendorf. He married on 31.08.1952 in Marburg Elizabeth Kronthal, born 02.11.1929 in Bad Kissingen. Gotthelf Joseph and Elizabeth Plaut had three children. Elizabeth Plaut died on 26.09.1986 in Monroe, New York.
461. Sussmann Moses, born 21.06.1891 in Frielendorf, he married in 1930 Elli Goldner from Gersfeld/Rhoen. Sussmann and Elli Moses had a daughter: 500. Ernestine Moses.
The family could emigrate to Palestine in 1934.
464. Rosa Moses, born 08.08.1897 in Frielendorf, she was married on 09.11.1920 in Frielendorf to Ernst Levy from Berlin Steinmetzstrasse 20, born 20.03.1881. Rosa and Ernst Levi could escape.
465. Siegfried Moses, born 04.01.1900 in Frielendorf. He married on 09.09.1909 in Holstmar Gerda Rose. Siegfried and Gerda Moses emigrated into the Netherlands, they lived in Amsterdam, Geleenstraat 57. Gerda Moses was deported on 14.09.1943 to Auschwitz and murdered there on 30.04.1944. Siegfried Moses was deported to Auschwitz in 1943 and murdered on 23.12.1943 in Auschwitz-Monowitz
466. Joseph Moses, born 13.04.1902 in Frielendorf. He deprted on 04.05.2916 by bike to the Lake of Eder, 30 miles from Frielendorf. There his bike was found on 06.05.1926, his dead body on 11.05.1926.
467. Betti Moses, born 03.05.1905 in Frielendorf. She was married to Albert Moses, born 15.07.1900 in Frielendorf, son of Suesmann Moses and his wife Emma, nee Gutkind. Betti and Albert Moses lived in Frielendorf Steinweg 74. They emigrated into the USA and lived in New York City, 56 Bennett Av. Albert Moses died on 24.01.1976 in new York City.
468. Jettchen Moses, born 27.01.1898 in Frielendorf, she was married to Markus Verstaendig, born 05.06.1901 in Siniawa, Galicia. After a stillborn Jettchen Verstaendig died on 19.10.1925 in Frielendorf:

Markus and Herta Verstaendig lived in Witzenhausen, Ermschwerdter Strasse 14. They had a shop for daily goods. They had a daughter:

They sent their daughter Ruth by a Kindertransport to Brussels/Belgium and followed her on 15.06.1939 to Brussels. They lived there Rue Verte 8. The family was arrested in Mechelen and on 18.08.1842 deported to Auschwitz, where all were murdered.
469. Bernhard Moses, born 29.01.1899 in Frielendorf, he married Betty Loewenstein, born 03.04.1906 in Meimbressen, daughter of Salomon Loewenstein and his wifer Rosalie, nee Adler. Bernhard and Betty Moses lived in Kassel, Hohentorstrasse 6. They had three children:

In November 1938 Bernhard Moses was arrested in Buchenwald. After his release the family emigrated into the USA. Bernhard Moses changed his name into Gabriel Moses Bernhard. He died on 10.02.1973 in Chicago Ill. He is buried i Rosehill Cemetery and Mausoleum in Chicago. Betty Bernhard died on 20.02.1998 in North Hollywood, Cal. She is buried in Eden Memorial Park, Mission Hills, Calif.
470. Emil Moses, born 03.04.1901 in Frielendorf. He marrid Gustel Leva, born 03.03.1902 in Ruchheim, near Ludwigshafen, daughter of Jacob Leva and his wife Klara. Emil and Gustel Moses lived in Homberg/Efze, Bischofstrasse 6. Before 1933 Emil Moses moved to Kassl. He emigrated to France and was arrested in Drancy. From there he was deported on 22.06.1942 to Auschwitz. He was murdered in Auschwitz on 22.07.1942.
471. Bella Moses, born 24.12.1902 in Frielendorf. She was married in 1925 to Markus Mayerfeld, born 12.03.1880 in Kirtorf. Markus Mayerfeld sold feeding stuff in Kirchhain, Bella Mayerfeld had a shop for womens' hats. They had two sons:
506. Horst Gerard Mayerfeld, born 20.09.1925 in Kirchhain, he emigrated with his parents after war into the USA. + 507. Manfred Fred Mayerfeld, born 29.12.1928 in Kirchhain
On 17.03.1937 the family moved to Kassel and from there to Berlin.Bella Mayerfeld had to work as a slave worker in the Osram factory. The family survived and came back on 09.06.1945 from Beneckenstein/Harz to Kirchhain. Markus Mayerfeld worked in textile before he, his wife Bella and their yougnest son Manfred Mayerfeld emigrated into the USA. Markus Mayerfeld died in the USA. Bella Mayerfeld was married a second time to William Pardys, born 18.08.1900. Bella and William Pardys lived in San Diego, Calif.
472. Rosa Hermine Moses, born 06.04.1909 in Frielendorf. She was married in 1933 to Alfred Kahn, born 09.05.1904 in Merzig/Saar. Rosa and Alfred Kahn emigrated i 1935 to Alencon, France. There they bought a house and rented a store for selling scrap metal. They had a daughter:

In 1939 Alfred Kahn was interned in Le Mans interment camp and in Camp Saint-Antoine in Albi. Rosa Kahn and her daughter left Alencon in 1941 for Albi. Ten miles south of Albi they rent a house and lived there together with their cousin Manfred Mayerfeld. Alfred Kahn was able to leave the camp and worked on farm in the area. By the help of the farmer Charles Gasser and his family they survived. After war they returned to Alencon. Alfred Kahn died in 1990 in Alencon, Rosa Kahn died in 2000 in Jerusalem.
EIGTH GENERATION :
481. Paula Braunschweiger, born 04.11.1926 in Burghaun, sheemigrated by a Kindertransport on 25.07.1939 to England. There she was married to John Alden. Paula and John Alden had two children:

482. Alfred Braunschweiger, born 20.06.1928 in Burghaun, he was deported with his parents on 08.12.1942 to Riga. From there he was deported in July/August 1943 to Kaiserwald camp and then on 06.08.1944 to Stutthof, near Danzig, where he arrived on 09.08.1944. He was liberated in May 1945 by the Soviet Armee and went back to Berlin and Burghaun. On 20.10.1947 he emgrated into the USA and lived in Yonkers, N.Y. He married and had four children. Since 1967 the family lived in Queens, N.Y. (Elisabeth Sternberg-Siebert, a.a.O., p. 197/198)
483. Reni Braunschweiger, born 18.04.1936 in Burghaun, She could escape with a Kindertransport on 10.06.1939 at the age of 3 to England, where she was adopted by an English couple. Later she was married and lived in London. (Elisabeth Sternberg-Siebert, a.a.O., p. 196, 198)

485. Andrew Naftali Moses, he married Rivka N. N., Andrew Naftali and Rivka Moses have two children:

Andrew Naftali and Rivka Moses got divorced. Andrew Naftali Moses married a second time Leah N. N., Andrew Naftali and Leah Moses have two children.

504. Ilse Gisela Moses, born 05.06.1934 in Kassel, she emigrated with her parents and sister into the USA. She was married to Charles Albert Harris, born 27.01.1932 in Chicago, Ill., son of Philipp William Harris and his wife Rose Gertrude, nee Kesert. Ilse Gisela and Charles Albert Harris had three children. Charles Albert Harris died on 05.05.1986 in Los Angelos, Cal. He is buried in Eden Memorial Park, Mission Hills, Cal.
507. Manfred Fred Mayerfeld, born 29.12.1928, his was sent by his parents in 1935 to Merzig/Saar to the family of his aunt Rosa Hermine Kahn. He emigrated with them to France. He joined the French underground and survived.
508. Beatrice Kahn, born 27.09.1936 in Alencon, France. She survived the occupation and the war helped by the family of Charles and Maria Gasser. After liberation she continued studying in high school and was awarded a scholarship from the American Field Service for a high school in Wilmington, Delaware. After that she returned and worked as a bilingual secretary in Paris. She was married to a man from Egypt. They have 3 children, 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
