Logan : i Annual Report Warrant- for the 1953 Town Meeting STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE To the Inhabitants of he Town of Milton in the County of Strafford, in said State, qualified to vote in Town Affairs : You are hereby notified to meet at the Town House in said Town on Tuesday, the tenth day of March, next, at ten of the clock in the forenoon, with polls not closing before six of the clock in the afternoon, to act on the following subjects 1. To bring in your ballots for Town Officers. 2. Vote to adjourn to Wednesday evening at 7:30 P. M., the eleventh day of March, at the Town House to act on the following articles: Articles of Business for Wednesday, March 11 1. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed eight thousand dollars ($8,000.00) for winter maintenance. 2. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00) for gravel and repairs of high- ways and bridges. 3. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed one thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500.00) for maintenance of highway equipment. 4. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed three thousand dollars ($3,000.00) for oiling. Town of Milton 5 5. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed four hundred ninety-five dollars and sixty-nine cents ($495.69) in order to receive Town Road Aid. (The State of N. H. to contribute $3,304.57.) 6. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) for the continuance of the Nute Ridge Road. 7. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) for the general improvement of the Willey Road in Milton Mills. (By petition). 8. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed seven hundred dollars ($700.00) for rebuilding Remick Street with treated gravel, and pass any other vote or votes rela- tive thereto. (By petition). 9. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) for the improvement of Silver Street, leading out of Milton village. 10. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) to meet the note on the Hough Loader. 11. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum not to exceed two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) to meet the note on the F. W. D. truck. 12. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00) for repair of sidewalks in Milton and Milton Mills. 6 Annual Report 13. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed three hun- dred dollars ($300.00) for the Camp Roads. 14. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed two thousand seven hundred dollars ($2,700.00) for street lights. 15. To see if the Town will vote to earmark the sum of five hundred dollars ($500.00) for the Town Beach. 16. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed eleven thousand dollars ($11,000.00) to pay Town charges and expenses, and pass any other vote or votes relative thereto. 17. To determine the salaries, wages and other compensation and allowances for all persons serving the Town, and to pass any other vote or votes relative thereto. 18. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) for the Milton Fire Department, and pass any other vote or votes relative thereto. 19. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) for the new fire station in Milton. 20. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed eight hundred dollars ($800.00) for maintenance of the Milton Mills Fire District. 21. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00) for the maintenance of hydrants in the Milton Water District. Town of Milton 7 22. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to pay the first and second Engineers and Fire- men in addition to the amount allowed by law; to see how much per hour the Town will vote to pay Engi- neers and Firemen while fighting fires, and pass any other vote or votes relative thereto. 23. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed three hundred dollars ($300.00) for the Milton Free Public Library at Milton Mills. 24. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) for Memorial Day. 25. To see if the Town will vote to raise the sum of two hundred and fifty-two dollars ($252.00) for the Lakes Region Association. 26. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed four hundred dollar ($400.00) for the control of White Pine Blister Rust. 27. To see what sum of money the Town will raise and appropriate for Civilian Defense use. 28. To see if the Town will authorize the Select- men to hire on notes of the Town a sum of money nec- essary to pay current expenses in anticipation of taxes of 1953, and pass any other vote or votes relative thereto. 29. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to release all right, title and interest that the Town may possess in and to all the conditions and reversionary rights contained in the deed of the sever- al lots of land deeded by the Town to Oscar G. More- house Post, No. 61, American Legion, dated October 8 Annual Report 7, 1933, and recorded in Strafford County Records, Book 455, Page 437. 30. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate the sum of seven hundred dollars ($700.00) to pay its share of filling part of the Y between the new and old highways adjacent to the north end of Charles Street. 31. To see if the Town will vote to accept gift of land in the Y, described in the above article, from the Willey heirs. 32. To see if the Town will vote to sell a part of the Looney land on Charles Street for a house lot. 33. To see if the town will vote to allow the Col- lector of Taxes additional compensation for his serv- ices in collecting the state head tax and to fix the amount thereof.
