Volume 2 (30) RARE AND NEW FOR THE LITHUANIAN FAUNA LEPIDOPTERA SPECIES IVINSKIS POVILAS1, JOLANTA RIMŠAITĖ1, ARŪNAS EISMANTAS2 1Nature Research Centre, Akademijos 2, LT-08412, Vilnius, Lithuania. E-mail: [email protected]; [email protected] Introduction After examination of newly collected and preserved material in the collection of the Laboratory of Entomology (Nature Research Centre) 8 new and 45 rare for the Lithuanian fauna Lepidoptera species from 16 families were identified and are presented in this paper. Material and Methods The majority of data were collected during field investigations by the authors P. Ivinskis (P.I.), J. Rimšaitė (J.R.) and Arūnas Eismantas (A.E.), some data – by Nikolajs Savenkovs (N.S.), Sandra and Simas Minkevičiai (S.S.M.) and Romualdas Feitauskas. Breeding from larvae, netting, light and wine trapping were used to collect moths. Light trapping with performed with screen (160 W mixed light lamp) and automatic traps with 300 W solar type lamps. The material was identified according Bengtsson et al., 2008, Bengtsson & Johansson, 2011, Slamka, 2010. Data on distribution and faunistics follows Aarvik et al., 2017. Taxonomical treatment and distribution follows the Fauna Europaea database (Karsholt & Nieukerken, 2013). The specimens are deposited in the collection of Nature Research Centre. Species new for the Lithuanian fauna are marked with an asterisk (*). Volume 2 (30) Discussion Seven species of Lepidoptera registered in Lithuania for the first time are presented in this report. Eriocrania salopiella (Eriocranidae) is a widely distributed species in all Nordic and in all Baltic countries (Aarvik et al, 2017) and has been reported from Poland, Russia, Netherlands, Great Britain, Ireland, France (Karsholt et al., 2008). The main morphological feature of this species – forewing purplish, tornal spot triangular big. Species flight period – April–May. The larvae make blotch mine mainly on Betula pubescens (Bengtsson et al., 2008). Trifurcula immundella (Nepticulidae) is a species widely distributed almost in all Europe, in the North Europe found only in Sweden, Denmark (Karsholt et al., 2008) and from Baltic countries is reported only from Lithuania. Larvae developing in stamps of Cytisus scoparius from October to May. Sometimes locally abundant in sandy habitats with the larval food plant (Bengtsson et al., 2008). Swammerdamia passerella (Yponomeutidae) is distributed in Nordic countries with exception Denmark, in Latvia (Aarvik et al., 2017), Great Britain (Karsholt et al., 2008). Flight period – June–early July. Larva feed on Betula nana, at first mining, later – feeding externally beneath a web. Occurs on moors with Betula nana, in lowland (Bengtsson et al., 2008). Apotomis lineana (Tortricidae) has been reported from almost all European countries with exception Norway and some South European countries (Karsholt et al, 2008). Imagoes forewings are narrow compared to others Apotomis species. Larvae feed on various Salix. Hypotopa segnella (Blastobasidae) is distributed in Finland, Russia, Poland, Czech, Slovakia, Germany, France and Austria (Karsholt et al., 2008). Larval food object is unknown, but maybe they feed as other species of this family on plant detritus. Delplanqueia inscriptella (Pyralidae). Forewing narrow with apex blunt crimson- brown to ash grey.

Supposedly they were either erroneously determinated or incorrect noted from the region under consideration since Eversmann 's work. 289 species are recorded from the re gion in addition to Eversmann 's list. This paper is the fifth in a series of publications1 dealing with the composition of the pres ent-day fauna of noctuid-moths in the Middle Volga and the south-western Cisurals. This re gion comprises the administrative divisions of the Astrakhan, Volgograd, Saratov, Samara, Uljanovsk, Orenburg, Uralsk and Atyraus (= Gurjev) Districts, together with Tataria and Bash kiria. As was accepted in the first part of this series, only material reliably labelled, and cover ing the last 20 years was used for this study. The main collections are those of the authors: V. Abstract. Pyraloidea, one of the largest superfamilies of Lepidoptera, comprise more than 15 684 described species worldwide, including important pests, biological control agents and experimental models. Understanding of pyraloid phylogeny, the basis for a predictive classification, is currently provisional. We present the most detailed molecular estimate of relationships to date across the subfamilies of Pyraloidea, and assess its concordance with previous morphology-based hypotheses. We sequenced up to five nuclear genes, totalling 6633 bp, in each of 42 pyraloids spanning both families and 18 of the 21 subfamilies, plus up to 14 additional genes, for a total of 14 826 bp, in 21 of those pyraloids plus all 24 outgroups.

Rabiria rufimaculella can be recognized by having two reddish-yellow and short bands near the postmedial and antemedial line, and by the bifurcate gnathos and the cornutus which is formed by numerous thorn-shaped sclerites in male genitalia. Copamyntis martimella can be distinguished with the congeners by the uniformly distributed setae on the sacculus and the curved aedeagus in male genitalia and the peanut-shaped signum near the middle of the corpus bursae in female genitalia. The adults and genitalia of the species are redescribed and illustrated. Keywords: Pyralidae, Phycitinae, Rabiria, Copamyntis, new records, Korea INTRODUCTION SYSTEMATIC ACCOUNTS The Phycitinae are one of the largest subfamilies of the family Order Lepidoptera Linnaeus, 1758 Pyralidae in Lepidoptera, comprising approximately 5,000 Family Pyralidae Latreille, 1809 species in the world (Li and Ren, 2009). Leech and South Subfamily Phycitinae Ragonot, 1885 (1901) first reported 3 species of Phycitini from the Korean Genus Rabiria Heinrich, 1956 Peninsula; Okamoto (1924), Shibuya (1927), Park and Lee Rabiria Heinrich, 1956: 311. E-mail: [email protected] New data on Pterophoridae from Afghanistan are considered. A checklist of Pterophoridae species of the fauna of Afghanistan is presented, as including 32 species of 14 genera. Merrifieldia tridactyla is for the first time recorded for the fauna of Afghanistan. The basic literature on the Afghanistan Pterophoridae were used in the study. Key words: Pterophoridae, plume moths, Afghanistan, fauna, new data. INTRODUCTION Many Pterophoridae as Cossidae are specific inhabitants of the arid regions of the Palaearctic. Usually deserts are good zoogeographical barriers preventing from mixing the faunas of different zoogeographical regions (Yakovlev & Dubatolov 2013; Yakovlev, 2015; Yakovlev et al., 2015). Until now there were no special publications on Pterophoridae from Afghanistan. The first description of a new species of Pterophoridae, Stenoptilia nurolhaki, from Afghanistan was in the work by Amsel (1967), In a series of works by Ernst Arenberger (1981, 1987, 1995), six new species were described from Afghanistan.

Bulletin of the Irish Biogeographical Society No. 36 (2012) ADDITIONS, DELETIONS AND CORRECTIONS TO AN ANNOTATED CHECKLIST OF THE IRISH BUTTERFLIES AND MOTHS (LEPIDOPTERA) WITH A CONCISE CHECKLIST OF IRISH SPECIES AND ELACHISTA BIATOMELLA (STAINTON, 1848) NEW TO IRELAND K. G. M. Bond1 and J. P. O’Connor2 1Department of Zoology and Animal Ecology, School of BEES, University College Cork, Distillery Fields, North Mall, Cork, Ireland. e-mail: <[email protected]> 2Emeritus Entomologist, National Museum of Ireland, Kildare Street, Dublin 2, Ireland. Abstract Additions, deletions and corrections are made to the Irish checklist of butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera). Elachista biatomella (Stainton, 1848) is added to the Irish list. The total number of confirmed Irish species of Lepidoptera now stands at 1480. Key words: Lepidoptera, additions, deletions, corrections, Irish list, Elachista biatomella Introduction Bond, Nash and O’Connor (2006) provided a checklist of the Irish Lepidoptera. Since its publication, many new discoveries have been made and are reported here. In addition, several deletions have been made. A concise and updated checklist is provided. The following abbreviations are used in the text: BM(NH) – The Natural History Museum, London; NMINH – National Museum of Ireland, Natural History, Dublin. The total number of confirmed Irish species now stands at 1480, an addition of 68 since Bond et al. (2006). Taxonomic arrangement As a result of recent systematic research, it has been necessary to replace the arrangement familiar to British and Irish Lepidopterists by the Fauna Europaea [FE] system used by Karsholt 60 Bulletin of the Irish Biogeographical Society No. 36 (2012) and Razowski, which is widely used in continental Europe.

(2020), A molecular phylogeny of Cochylina, with confirmation of its 19 relationship to Euliina (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae). Syst Entomol, 45: 160-174., which has been 20 published in final form at https://doi.org/10.1111/syen.12385. 21 1 22 Abstract. We conducted a multiple-gene phylogenetic analysis of 70 species representing 24 23 genera of Cochylina and eight species representing eight genera of Euliina, and a maximum 24 likelihood analysis based on 293 barcodes representing over 220 species of Cochylina. The 25 results confirm the hypothesis that Cochylina is a monophyletic group embedded within a 26 paraphyletic Euliina. We recognize and define six major monophyletic lineages within 27 Cochylina: a Phtheochroa Group, a Henricus Group, an Aethes Group, a Saphenista Group, a 28 Phalonidia Group, and a Cochylis Group.

Abstract Scrobipalpa reiprichi Povolny, 1984, recently described from Czechoslovakia, is newly recorded from a site in Norway with similar ecological characteristics to the type-locality. The moth is redescribed, and illustrations are given of the male and female genitalia and habitat.
