Those in Band A are the most efficient, and will usually have the lowest fuel bills. The same scale is used to define the impact of a property on the environment. Higher rated homes will usually have less impact through carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. To put this in perspective, the average property in the UK is in band D or E for both ratings. The Certificate also makes energy saving recommendations that may help reduce future energy bills. In some cases, these can be financed under the Government's Green Deal. In effect, Green Deal offers UK home-owners a loan, which is repaid through regular electricity bills. The main loan condition (the "Golden Rule") is that the amount saved each year on energy bills should be more than the cost of annual loan repayments. Note that the loan stays with the house when owners move on. Gould Harrison 1 Middle Row, High Street, Ashford, TN24 8SQ 01233 646411 LOCATION Authorities Get to know your local authorities Local government directly affects quality of life, particularly when it comes to council tax, planning, waste disposal and the impact of local policies. You may want to investigate how this is likely to affect you if you decide to move. There are nearly 400 local authorities in England, with five different types of local government structure. These can be broadly divided into single-tier and two-tier authorities. Single-tier authorities are Metropolitan Authorities, London Boroughs and Unitary or Shire Authorities. Two-tier authorities have both a County Council, and a District Council or City Council. There are also around 10,000 parish and town councils, effectively creating an additional tier in some areas - mostly, but not exclusively, in rural areas. The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) represents and works on behalf of these community councils and is a useful contact point. • Wye School 2019/2020
Wye School Sixth Form Course Guide 2019/2020 1 Welcome to Wye Sixth Form In September 2018 we opened our (refurbished) doors to our first Sixth Form cohort and Wye School finally became what was always intended – a fully inclusive comprehensive school catering for students of all abilities in the 11-18 age group. In September 2019 we will welcome our second Year 12 cohort to join our founding year of sixth form students. We already offer a wide range of A’ level subjects at Wye, both through Wye school itself and through our partnership with another local United Learning school, Ashford School. This currently includes 15 A’ level subjects in addition to the respected AQA EPQ qualification. In this booklet you will find details of all the subjects that we are now considering as part of the Wye School Sixth Form curriculum for 2019 - 2021. Please read through the course content carefully and talk with the members of staff that will be teaching these. You will need to decide which courses that you would be interested in taking and which would lead you successfully through to the future and career that you aspire to. We hope that you will be excited by the breadth and variety of the courses that are presented in this booklet for your consideration. To be accepted onto a course students will need to meet the entry requirements for that subject (often 5+ in a related GCSE). We would also expect that students have at least five grade 5 GCSES overall, to enter the Wye Sixth Form.

University of Kent's Institution Contextual Flag All schools on this list meet the requirements for the University of Kent's Institution Contextual Flag. The Institution Contextual Flag is given to all institutions whose data indicates that they perform in the bottom 40% nationally for KS5 results reported by the Department for Education each year. We use the average point school per entry and where data is not available, we use KS4 result, if available. In order to make this more reliable we look at data over a three year period to see if they are low performing for at least two out of the last three years. In cases where an Institution is flagged, but subsequently closes, the flag will be retained and the institution will continue to appear on the list. We use the Institution supplied by you in your UCAS application (the UCAS centre or Last Institution) to identify whether it has a Contextual Flag. Please note: independent schools are not included, neither do we have data from government agencies in Scotland and Northern Ireland and therefore these cannot be given a flag. Similarly, there may be schools or colleges which have recently changed name, status or have merged and this has resulted in no data being reported by the Department of Education , in these instances we will not be able to assess the Institution for a Contextual Flag.
