REGIONAL MEETING ON THE 2001 CONVENTION ON THE PROTECTION OF THE UNDERWATER CULTURAL HERITAGE THE UNESCO SCIENTIFIC COLLOQUIUM ON THE ACCESS TO UNDERWATER CULTURAL HERITAGE Dates: 8.30 am – 2 pm, 8 June 2016, UNESCO Regional Meeting 8.30 – 5.30 pm, 9 June 2016, 2016 UNESCO Scientific Colloquium Organizers: National Museum, Denmark; UNESCO Secretariat of the 2001 Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage Participants Colloquium: Experts, scientists, museum and tourism professionals Participants Regional Meeting: Government Representatives Venue: Both meetings will take place in the National Museum of Denmark in Copenhagen, Ny Vestergade 10, 1471 København K, Danemark. Excursion: An excursion is offered to the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde on the afternoon of 8 June 2016 for max. 60 participants. The bus will leave at 3 pm from the National Museum. It will return around 6 pm. The excursion is free of charge and includes a guided visit. Please register in time. Official Reception: An official reception is offered for all participants at 6 pm, 8 June 2016, at the National Museum of Denmark. We advise early booking, due to a high amount of ongoing events at that time of the year. Airport and Transport: Copenhagen Airport Kastrup is the main international airport serving Copenhagen. The airport is located on the island of Amager, just 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) south of Copenhagen city centre. The metro is located right above terminal 3. All trains go in the same direction from the airport (M2 to Vanløse Station). The trains run with 4-6 minutes intervals during the day and evening. During the night the train runs every 15-20 minutes. It will take you 13 minutes to get to Nørreport Station in city centre. Tickets can be bought at the metro station and at the DSB ticket sales counter in terminal 3. Please note that the machines only accept coins and credit cards, not notes. Metro map The train station is located by terminal 3. You can take a free shuttle bus from terminal 1 to terminal 3, which will take 5 minutes. The trains run every 10 minutes during the day and will get you to Copenhagen Central Station in about 13 minutes. During the night the trains run 1-3 times an hour. Tickets can be bought at the ticket machines in terminal 3 just above the railway, and at the DSB ticket sales counter, also located in terminal 3. Please note that the machines only accept coins and credit cards, not notes. Bus 5A will take you directly to Copenhagen Central Station, City Hall Square, Nørreport and other stations. It takes about 30-35 minutes from the airport to the Central Station. The bus runs every 10 minutes at day. The bus runs all night as well, but not as often. Tickets can be bought at the ticket machines in terminal 3, or you can buy a ticket on the bus. Please note that the bus drivers only accept coins. Taxis can pick up passengers at terminal 1 and 3 and will get you to downtown Copenhagen in about 20 minutes depending on traffic. Taxis are usually waiting outside each terminal. It will cost approximately DKK 250-300. Route from the Metro station at Kongens Nytorv to the National Museum Transport from the CABINN Metro to the National Museum Walk to the metro station "Bella Center” (about 1.2 km). From there, take the green line on the metro map to Kongens Nytorv. Look at the above map “transport from Kongens Nytorv to the National Museum”. Transport from hotel ASTORIA to the National Museum There are approximately 1.2 kilometers from the Astoria hotel to the National Museum. Registration & Conference Fees: The Regional Meeting and the Colloquium are free of charge, but the number of participants is restricted for both events to 150 persons. Please register by using the forms published on the conference website until the latest 15 May 2016. Visa: Please inquire whether you need a visa to come to Danemark. If you do, make sure to lodge an application in due time. Detailed information about the Danish visa rules, including which foreign nationals need visas, can be obtained from the website of the Danish Immigration Service. See here the list of countries whose citizens need a visa to enter Denmark. Currency: Denmark uses the krone as its currency and does not use the euro. 1 Danish Krone is equivalent to approx. 0.13 EUR. Time Zone: In Copenhagen ti me is UTC+1 as standard time, and UTC+2 as daylight saving time, with transition dates according to the European Union rules.
