Singer Parle hopes for Christmas number one CHARITYSONG TELLS SAD STORY OF 'HERO' TEACHER ESTHER HAYDEN

WICKLOW SINGER is hoping for a Christmas Number one this holiday season in memory of school teacher Alice Strain. 'Back in October of this year I met the Transition Year Girls from Clonmel Presentation Secondary School for an IMRO songwriting and production workshop for Big Music Week. The workshop lasted four hours, in which Gavin Ralston and myself wrote and recorded a song with the girls titled 'My Hero'. 'The girls chose to write their song about their late teacher Miss Alice Strain who had tragically died in a car accident some months previous. 'Alice was engaged to Pat and they were to be married this year. It was so obvious the girls adored Alice and Alice adored the girls. 'The song has been released on iTunes for Christmas with all proceeds going to the St Vincent De Paul. In its first week of release the song topped the iTunes chart at No. 1 and went straight to No. 7 in the official Irish Charts. Paddy Power has the girls tipped at 6/1 for the Christmas No. 1 right behind winner but in its third week of release up against major competition that's going to be extremely difficult. However, it would be amazing if the girls finished up in the top 10 for the Christmas chart. If you would like to donate to the St Vincent De Paul and help the girls just log onto: https://itunes.apple.com/ie/al bum/my-hero-rte-big-musicweek/id757654920. -19-
