The Workforce Training Fund Program (WTFP) is a Massachusetts state fund enacted into law in July 1999 and financed entirely by Massachusetts employers. Its purpose is to provide funding resources to Massachusetts businesses and workers to train current and newly hired employees.

Businesses are eligible if they have paid into the program through paying unemployment insurance. Here are some general provisions of the program:

Classes and clinicals to be held at the Mount Wachusett Community College, Fitchburg Campus This 40 hour training course is designed to prepare licensed dental hygienists for the American Board of Dental Examiners (ADEX) written local anesthesia examination administered by the Commission on Dental Competency Assessments (CDCA) in compliance with the rules and regulations of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Registration in Dentistry. It is taught by MWCC’s Dental Hygiene faculty and is accredited by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation. This course meets the training program requirement for the local anesthesia permit L application and upon successful completion participants can apply for the CDCA local anesthesia board examination. Participants who satisfy both requirements (training program and written examination) are eligible to apply for licensure to administer dental local anesthesia in Massachusetts and other states that use the CDCA exam. 40 CEUs will be awarded upon successful completion. Individual states have specific requirements, check with your state governing board’s requirements. Bring lunch and break snacks as needed. A break room, refrigerator and microwave are available.

Course Prerequisites: Copy of current Dental Hygienist License, documented proof of immunity to HBV by titer, Malpractice Insurance (must be an individual policy and NOT included in employer’s policy), current CPR certification for Healthcare Providers, medical history and consent form.
