Christian Estrosi, Député - Maire de Nice, Président de la Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur 3 L e mot du parrain "The Nice Jazz Festival is now part of the history of jazz itself - along with the musicians themselves it is now a legend in its own right and has woven itself into the fabric of the music. From Louis Armstrong to Ray Charles, to Miles Davis right up to the incredible lineup of 2015 - the festival has always stood for quality. But let’s face it - does anyone ever really need an excuse to go to the South of France?!? I have been honoured to help design a festival this year that encompasses some of the best of what is going on in the world of jazz - from Kenny Barron, Brad Mehldau and Jason Moran’s game changing piano to the exquisite and probing voices of Cassandra Wilson and Kurt Elling. These modern giants of the music prove that it is in good hands. The festival is also playing host to acts that play with the edges of the traditions, using jazz as part of their sound to stay fresh and exciting, keeping it alive in the hearts and minds of the wider world. The Roots will bring their legendary musicality and live show along with Lauryn Hill in a rare festival performance from one of the most unique and influential modern voices. One of my personal favourite will be coming to blow peoples minds as well - Haitus Kaiyote - who will create beautiful chaos in your head and under your feet. It is the perfect festival, in one of the most beautiful parts of the world. If I wasn’t playing, I would be going. I’ll see you all in the crowd with a drink in my hand." Their music echoes the joy and pizzazz of Parisian cabaret-style songs, the early jazz of New Orleans, gypsy jazz and swing, and the irresistibly danceable speakeasy sounds of the Roaring 20s. Elizabeth Bougerol, a London School of Economics-educated travel writer who grew up in France, Canada and the Ivory Coast, and Palazzo, a New York City-born and -raised actor who studied theater at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, bonded over their love for Fats Waller.

RECENT PRESS “There are probably fewer than a dozen influential vibraphonists in today’s jazz scene, but it seems certain that Warren Wolf’s name will be added to that list in short order.” - Pierre Giroux, Audiophile Audition “Corea and Gary Burton played [Senor Mouse] as a duet on the album Crystal Silence, but Wolf overdubs vibraphone over marimba here. The result is hypnotic. The tune tells you exactly who Warren Wolf is—an artist of immense ability and taste.” –Frank Alkyer , DownBeat “Warren Wolf is one stellar document.
