À cause des vibrations particulières à cette musique, bien sûr, à cause de cette liberté des sons qui s’inventent et s’engendrent. Mais aussi à cause de l’Histoire. On ne peut oublier que c’est ici qu’a eu lieu, en février 1948, le 1er festival de jazz au monde. Nice a été le théâtre de cet événement, pas New-York ni la Nouvelle-Orléans ! Et cela n’a pas été le fruit du hasard mais celui d’un enracinement profond de cet art nouveau dans la terre niçoise. Nous avons été les acteurs de l’une des plus fantastiques aventures Christian Estrosi, musicales de tous les temps. Député - Maire de Nice, Et nous continuons à l’être aujourd’hui grâce à tous ces Niçois qui Président de la plébiscitent cette musique, grâce à notre école de jazz au Conservatoire Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur National à Rayonnement Régional d’où sont issus des artistes devenus célèbres. Et, bien sûr, grâce au Nice Jazz Festival ! Pour les amateurs du monde entier, c’est plus que jamais un rendez- vous majeur. Les plus grands noms du jazz s’y produisent mais aussi les nouveaux talents qui trouvent ici un lieu et un public propices à leur envol.
