Over past years the PTA have assisted with a new school library, IT Suite, outside playground equipment, items for the new Gardening Gang and much, much more. All parents are welcome to join the PTA and whilst we do our best to keep meetings to a minimum, we try to hold them either in the evenings (at a local pub) or after morning drop off in the school library. If we are holding a large event the number of meetings does increase. Some parents make every meeting, whilst others come every now and then. We have some parents who help out at every event, while others contribute by making cakes or send- ing prizes for raffles. Most parents show their support by coming along to events or by buying Christmas cards, calendars or raffle tickets. We also hold the usual Jumble and Cake sales, as well as holding Carwashing events, BBQ & Rounders evenings and the odd one or two social evenings. So, if you feel that you have any time, energy or ideas to help in our quest, then please jump in - we really don’t bite! It’s always great to meet new people. Without the support of the parents, staff and pupils, none of the extra stuff would be possible! Funtington School has a School Council, which has a pupil voice within the school. There are 10 representa- tives, who are chosen by the pupils from Years 2,3,4,5 and 6. They are very active and over the past few years have covered the following topics : • Compiled playground rules after canvassing pupils • Collected Healthy School ideas • Suggested ideas about how to raise money for Red Nose Day • Made suggestions for rewards for “Walk on Wednesdays” and helped to implement the system • Collected ideas from the pupils to make the lunchtimes more healthy and a more social event in the school day They are currently working on how to make our school more eco-friendly.
