The race is on to find a bomb. One of the characters fakes a seizure as a distraction in the action. Fight for Life 23 1987 USA Drama An Ohio optometrist campaigns to get the USA FDA to approve sodium valproate (which is only licensed for use in the UK at the time), for his 6-year-old adopted daughter who suffers disabling seizures. Fighting Choice 24 1986 USA Drama A teenager’s attempts to sue his parents for the right to have “split brain” surgery in order to cure his seizures. First Do no Harm 25 1997 USA Drama A mother’s battle with the medical profession over the ketogenic diet. Several of the minor characters in this film are portrayed by people with epilepsy, who have been helped by the ketogenic diet. Frankie and Johnny 26 1991 USA Drama An ex-convict gets a job as a chef in a restaurant and falls in love with the troubled waitress. A customer has a generalised seizure in the restaurant, bringing the two together in a first aid attempt. Hong Se Lain Ren 27 1998 China Drama The hero of this Chinese epic, Jin is an underground revolutionary who has post-traumatic epilepsy. She is raped and impregnated by a German soldier and bears a son with epilepsy. Let Him Have It 31 1991 UK Drama Based on an infamous miscarriage of British justice, Derek Bentley sustained head injuries during the Blitz and developed post-traumatic epilepsy. He subsequently became involved in an armed robbery that resulted in the fatal shooting of a policeman. Although he did not pull the trigger, he was tried for murder and hanged in 1953. This case was pivotal in the subsequent abolition of the death penalty in the UK. 46 years after he was hanged, Derek Bentley was granted a full pardon in 1998. Othello* 43 1965 UK Drama Othello suffers a seizure in a jealous rage. In all, there have been 26 cinematic versions of Othello ranging from 1907 to 2003.
