But what a great year it has been for FQ. President’s Corner 1 All the buzz of the 50th PCDR/25th FQ Anniversary celebration in the DR in February generated some terrific FQ Grantees Visit Cacao 1 energy, with folks renewing their support of our mission with time and/or financial resources. The Gittins Factory family once again hosted a wonderful FQ Annual Meeting/Picnic at their home in June (see a later article in VP’s Perch 2 this issue), and plans are underway for our next get-together at the Los Hermanos restaurant in DC (look FQ’s 2012 Annual Meeting/ 2 for details on our Facebook page). Picnic This has been a banner year for bolstering FQ’s sustainability. The announcement of the B.J. Warren En- Summary of FQ Grants 3 dowment Fund generated record support, allowing FQ to meet its “50 for 50” goal (a $50K endowment in the 50th year of Peace Corps/DR) and connect new supporters to FQ’s mission. Our operational expenses Six Teachers Receive FQ Grants 4 remain the same (FQ is an all-volunteer organization) so this support, pure and simple, translates into ad- FQ Grants & Selection Process 5 ditional scholarship opportunities for low-income youth and adults in the DR. Thank you to all who have FQ Grantees 5-7 helped us reach this milestone and we look forward to your continued support (tax deductible) at year-end or at an appropriate anniversary for your giving.
