Ključne reči: otpad / deponovanje /degradacija SOLID AND HAZARDOUS WASTE AS A FACTOR OF ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION Šimon A. Đarmati, Vesna M. Alivojvodić Belgrade Polytechnic, Belgrade Abstract: One of the most important problems of modern man certainly is waste - a constant companion of human society. However, in the beginning, the quality of waste was similar to natural substances, and its amount has not prevented its incorporation into natural cycles. As the capacity of the natural matter exchange is not unlimited, increasing amount of waste has become an important factor which is disturbing the balance in nature. Key words: waste / landfilling /degradation ~ 13 ~ UVOD Moguć uticaj čvrstog i opasnog otpada na životnu sredinu, odnosno njegovo razmatranje kao faktora fizičkog, hemijskog i biološkog odnosno ekološkog degradiranja prostora, zgodno je započeti podsećanjem na pticu dodo. Naime, na ostrvu Mauricijusu, daleko u Indijskom okeanu,
