Star Wars was an epic movie that was written and directed by George Lucas and premiered in 1977. It became a worldwide smash hit. Audiences had seen nothing like it before, sat in the theatre watching the enormous words scroll up the screen at the beginning of the movie, then the special effects which today seem so basic and yet, back then, were just fantastic!
