It was the biggest story ever published. I have owned before the first edition of Superman: The Death and Return of Superman Omnibus and it was not a good collected omnibus; cheap paper quality, some of the issues were taken out of print, no special bonuses and some parts of the story felt rushed. Then the 2nd edition was released in that includes many of the missing issues It includes what previous editions do not have and with such a cover, the experience is one that deserves attention if anyone wants a complete journey. The story is familiar but now, its better than before and worth getting it. This is one omnibus edition that any collector's should get. Sure there's a few now dated references, but the basic story beats and art holds up extremely well. This was the first time I've read the whole event probably since it originally released, so it was interesting to me to see how much more of a lasting impact the story had on the Green Lantern titles than it did Superman - the destruction of Coast City set Hal on the path to become The other big DC crossover event from the 90s, The Death and Return of Superman stands the test of time pretty well. He is best known for creating the superhero Booster Gold, and for Superman: The Death and Return of Superman Omnibus lengthy runs on the Superman titles Adventures of Superman and Superman vol. Jurgens' first professional comic work was for DC Comics on Warlord He was hired due to a recommendation of Warlord-series creator Mike Grell who was deeply impressed by Jurgens' work after being shown his private portfolio at a convention. Jurgens would make his debut as a comic book writer with Sun Devils he began scripting from Conway's plots with 8 and fully took over the writing duties on the title with His first work on Superman was as penciller for Adventures of Superman Annual 1 Dan Jurgens was the penciller of the — limited series Armageddon and co-created the hero Waverider with Archie Goodwin. Wagner April 23, 1955 This episode gives the viewer a rare glimpse into Inspector Henderson’s personal life and provided Robert Shayne with his biggest role in the series. The story began at the police lineup. Inspector Henderson was giving the motley crew the third degree, attempting to pin a bank robbery on someone, preferably Muscles McGurk and Claude James. Clark was the number two man in the lineup. “What’s your name, buddy?” asked the inspector. “Which one?” replied Clark. “How many do you have?” “Several.” Clark finally admitted to be called Lou Chambers. Actually, Kent had just been filling in at the inspector’s request and he explained the talk about names was just something to say. Henderson’s son Ray was visiting police headquarters. The young adult and motherless lad had a hobby of collecting sounds and the inspector bet that Ray had about a million boxes full of recording tape, each a couple of inches long… and Ray’s recorder was running on the safe. In came Claude James, who was also in the lineup, with a police officer. Inspector Henderson unlocked the safe to retrieve some needed evidence. Next, Muscles McGurk was arrested, but he was out on bond before the news hit the Planet’s front page. To complicate matters, Lois and Jimmy had been sent to do a feature story on Ray’s sound collection and during the interview were interrupted by Muscles McGurk who bought a reel of tape from Ray for $100.00.

The pilot occurred in two parts, with the first part being a special hour-long broadcast of The Adventures of Superman (normally presented as half-hour episodes) and the second being an hour-long pilot for Perry Mason. Unfortunately, the people behind Perry Mason decided to scrap their pilot after realizing that the intrepid lawyer and his stories should be wholly based on science, not science fiction and fantasy, which is what The Adventures of Superman involved. This also meant scrapping the backdoor pilot – the special hour-long episode of The Adventures of Superman. Of course, none of the above actually happened. No, it didn’t, but it is a “fun” way of imagining how these two beloved television series could be linked with one another.

    097 TV’s 1958 Adventures of Superman Episode #97: The Superman Silver Mine March 10, 1958 Dabbs Greer played the dual roles of good guy Harrison Pebble and bad guy Dan Dobey. They were virtually identical, except that Dobey did not have a mustache. Pebble had spent his last thirty years prospecting before striking it rich and had not even seen television. Dobey was involved in shady goings-on with his partner Boris. Dobey was so slick the police had nothing on him, not even his fingerprints. The only thing the police knew for sure was that Dobey had a metal plate in his head, a result of an auto accident, but did not even have a photo of Boris. Complete with double-breasted suit and cowboy hat, Harrison Pebble strode into Perry White’s office where Perry, Lois, and Jimmy awaited him. “Howdy.” Pebble seemed disappointed that Superman was not there. But Clark was supposed to arrange for Superman who still had a few seconds. In his office glancing up, Clark Kent grinned and took a walk toward the store room. Superman flew into the Planet office just on time. “You know I’ve heard a heap about you.” Pebble explained he planned to help the children’s camp fund by giving them some land that had a pretty good silver mine on it. He was going to call it the “Superman Silver Mine.” Later, Dan Dobey and Boris were discussing the Daily Planet story about the generous bequest. “That’s just stupid.” Boris observed that Pebble looked amazingly like Dobey.
