ABSTRACT Comic books are beginning to be recognized for their impact on society because they inform, channel, and critique cultural norms. This thesis investigates how comic books interact and forward postfeminism. Specifically, this thesis explores the ways postfeminism interjects itself into female superhero team comic books. These comics, with their rosters of only women, provide unique perspectives on how women are represented in comic books. Additionally, the comics give insight into how women bond with one another in a popular culture text. The comics critiqued herein focus on transferring postfeminist ideals in a team format to readers, where the possibilities for representing powerful connections between women are lost. Postfeminist characteristics of consumption, sexual freedom, and sexual objectification are forwarded in the comic books, while also promoting aspects of racism. -

Collective of Heroes: Arrow’s Move Toward a Posthuman Superhero Fantasy by Alyssa Grace Kilbourn A Thesis Submitted to the Graduate Faculty of St. Cloud State University in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in Rhetoric and Writing December, 2016 Thesis Committee: James Heiman, Chairperson Matthew Barton Jennifer Tuder 2 Abstract Since 9/11, superheroes have become a popular medium for storytelling, so much so that popular culture is inundated with the narratives. More recently, the superhero narrative has moved from cinema to television, which allows for the narratives to address more pressing cultural concerns in a more immediate fashion. Furthermore, millions of viewers perpetuate the televised narratives because they resonate with the values and stories in the shows. Through Fantasy Theme Analysis, this project examines the audience values within the Arrow’s superhero fantasy and the influence of posthumanism on the show’s superhero fantasy. -

They both bring a spontaneity to the team, which otherwise would most likely be a boring team-up of heroes that play by the book. Chapter 84 This new team has taken part in mostly space-faring adventures, and its adventures have not involved the other Justice League. The S with the shield caught their attention. Iris hated the what if questions, but they haunted her. When it was all over, I just didn't care about any of it. At times, it felt more like the Super Friends than the Justice League. The surge of power Cadmus experienced approximately three days ago appears to have no adverse effects on our project, other than a few peculiar anomalies. I think this would be a better ensemble if it was cut down in size, and if the story focused more on Frost's redemption arc as well as some of the conflicts set up with The Ray, Vixen, and Ryan Choi's Atom in the initial issues. Batman took it all in good stride, despite spending a good part of his first ten years avoiding all photographic evidence of his existence. -
054 TV's 1955 Adventures of Superman Episode
054 TV’s 1955 Adventures of Superman Episode #54: The Talking Clue By Charles A. Wagner April 23, 1955 This episode gives the viewer a rare glimpse into Inspector Henderson’s personal life and provided Robert Shayne with his biggest role in the series. The story began at the police lineup. Inspector Henderson was giving the motley crew the third degree, attempting to pin a bank robbery on someone, preferably Muscles McGurk and Claude James. Clark was the number two man in the lineup. “What’s your name, buddy?” asked the inspector. “Which one?” replied Clark. “How many do you have?” “Several.” Clark finally admitted to be called Lou Chambers. Actually, Kent had just been filling in at the inspector’s request and he explained the talk about names was just something to say. Henderson’s son Ray was visiting police headquarters. The young adult and motherless lad had a hobby of collecting sounds and the inspector bet that Ray had about a million boxes full of recording tape, each a couple of inches long… and Ray’s recorder was running on the safe. In came Claude James, who was also in the lineup, with a police officer. Inspector Henderson unlocked the safe to retrieve some needed evidence. Next, Muscles McGurk was arrested, but he was out on bond before the news hit the Planet’s front page. To complicate matters, Lois and Jimmy had been sent to do a feature story on Ray’s sound collection and during the interview were interrupted by Muscles McGurk who bought a reel of tape from Ray for $100.00. -
