AUTHORITIES OF THE UNIVERSITY 1. The Syndicate The 20 member Syndicate consists of the Vice-Chancellor, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, the Secretary to Govt.Higher Education Department, the Secretary to Govt.Finance Department., the Secretary to Govt.Information Technology Department., the Director of Collegiate Education, Member Secretary, Higher Education Council, 11 members nominated by the Government and 3 members nominated by the Chancellor. 2. The Senate Yet to be reconstituted. 3. The Academic Council The Academic Council consist of all Deans of Faculties, all Syndicate Members, all Heads of the University Departments, elected representatives from among Principals of affiliated colleges, one elected member from each subject of study, one member from among the Head Masters of Schools and one from among school teachers nominated by the Chancellor. One member representing each faculty elected by PG students of the faculty from among themselves. Seven members from external experts nominated by the Chancellor. 4. Faculties There are seventeen faculties. The faculties consist of the Chairmen of Board of Studies, elected members and nominated members. II. OFFICERS OF THE UNIVERSITY 1.The Statutory Officers: The Vice-Chancellor, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar, the Controller of Examinations and the Finance Officer. 2. Other Officers The University has four Joint Registrars, eight Deputy Registrars, Director of Research Directorate, Director of Student Services, Director of Physical Education, Director, School of Distance Education, Director, Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Director, Directorate of International Academics, Development Officer, Computer Programmer, Public Relations Officer, Special Officer Land Acquisition,Assistant Executive Engineer, Assistant Engineer , Security Officer and ninteen Assistant Registrars. 9 Kannur University Annual Report 2018 PART II 1. Inauguration of Synthetic Track & Athletic Coaching Centre Achivements in the field of Sports 2. Land Acquisition Kannur University is now in possession of 88.61 acres of land. 3. Construction Works and Campus Development All the developmental activities and construction works are done under the supervision of the Development Officer and Assistant Registrar (Pl.D) The Planning and Development ‘E’ & ‘C’sections deals with the construction and Land Acquisition work. BACKGROUND OF SWARGA ● People of the northern district of Kerala are fighting the authorities and the business magnates, trying to protect the land and their living, against a deadly chemical Endosulfan. ● Enmakaje, a small village in Kasargod, becomes a symbol of the resistance of the movement against EndoSulfan. ● The insects, the cattle , the reptiles , the birds one after the other, either disappear or migrate. ● Those who continued to live in the area suffered the most. Kids born with deformities, people die of mysterious diseases, increase in the number of people with mental illness. ● But the authorities demand concrete evidence, facts and results of analysis. The 'fact finding missions' of Governmental agencies returns with reports showing lack of evidence. ● It is this issue that forms the background to this novel by Ambikasuthan Mangad. To preserve the dignity of every art that comes together with the other, it has to let those lotus-buds open out like eyelids awakening.” - Shahani (2015) This writing looks to detail the interaction between abstract ideas and concrete practices associated with making a film on the tabla musician Ustad Nizamuddin Khan while placing the deccani artistic worldview at its heart. The writing also looks to synthesize a relationship between the Buddhist and Marxist frameworks on the nature of reality, to create a suggestion as to where the film as a work of art may locate itself. More importantly this writing is an appeal to filmmakers to understand their social position within society, the filmmaker does not exist independently in society but instead all artistic creations arise through a process of dependent origination which are embedded in their class-caste social circles, philosophical relationship with the mind and external objects, religious affiliations, Volume 2 : Issue 1 & Volume and ethical factors while making films. Beck Asian Studies and Philosophy, Tulane University, New Orleans, LA 70118, USA; [email protected] Received: 22 December 2018; Accepted: 24 January 2019; Published: 29 January 2019 Abstract: While music plays a significant role in many of the world’s religions, it is in the Hindu religion that one finds one of the closest bonds between music and religious experience extending for millennia. The recitation of the syllable OM and the chanting of Sanskrit Mantras and hymns from the Vedas formed the core of ancient fire sacrifices. The Upanishads articulated OM as Sabda-Brahman,´ the Sound-Absolute that became the object of meditation in Yoga. First described by Bharata in the Natya-¯ S´astra¯ as a sacred art with reference to Rasa (emotional states), ancient music or Sang¯ıta was a vehicle of liberation (Moks.a) founded in the worship of deities such as Brahma,¯ Vishnu, Siva,´ and Goddess Sarasvat¯ı. Medieval Tantra and music texts introduced the concept of Nada-Brahman¯ as the source of sacred music that was understood in terms of Ragas,¯ melodic formulas, and Talas,¯ rhythms, forming the basis of Indian music today. Nearly all genres of Indian music, whether the classical Dhrupad and Khayal, or the devotional Bhajan and K¯ırtan, share a common theoretical and practical understanding, and are bound together in a mystical spirituality based on the experience of sacred sound. Drawing upon ancient and medieval texts and Bhakti traditions, this article describes how music enables Hindu religious experience in fundamental ways.

The college was re-accredited by the NAAC with A grade in May 2012. As such concerted effects have been made by the management, staff and students to maintain the grade during this year.
