Sharing Joy in Challenging Times

Dear Girl Scout Family,

Girl Scout Cookie season moves into high gear tomorrow when cookie booths open across Monmouth and Ocean counties.

It’s an exciting time for all our Cookie Bosses and families, as well as everyone in our community, eager for the annual tradition of stocking up on their favorite boxes of our delicious cookies.

The pandemic continues to challenge us, but I am so impressed with our girls’ determination, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit. I can’t wait to see our girls in action, setting up “Lemonade Stands,” generating online sales, supporting drive-thru cookie locations, and perfecting their sales pitch at community booths.

Remember, the Cookie Program is more than selling cookies. It’s the largest girl-led entrepreneurship program in the world. It’s an incredible opportunity for girls to develop lifelong skills central to the Girl Scout experience: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics.

It’s also about sharing joy with our neighbors in a difficult time.

Best of luck to our Cookie Bosses (and families!) as you power through the 2021 Cookie Season safely to achieve your goals.

I really love her Girl Scout because she is from RBG — That stands for Ruth U.S. Army helicopter pilot in Iraq, music. She inspires me because New Jersey and so am I! I love to Bader Ginsberg! She was a where she lost her legs. I picked she stands up for what she dance to music and I learned that Girl Scout when she was my age her because she persevered believes in. Break free from the virtual classroom and celebrate Spring Break in-person at Camp Amity Acres and Camp Sacajawea. We’re offering socially distant, camp-style programming with a Stay-cation theme from April 5-9. Register early, enrollment is limited. Before and after care is available.

Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors, we'll discover our carbon footprint Earn the Think Like an Engineer badge during this 3-day program, and learn ways we can reduce it! March 21-23. Then complete a Take Action Project on your own.

Juniors, let's step back in time and take a look at what life was like long ago! Juniors, let's discover Geocaching; a combination of technology and scavenger hunts! Access locations online and learn how to find them. Join us Wednesday, March 24, and earn the Playing the Past badge. Girls will create costumes, cook, and have some old fashioned fun! Make SWAPS to leave at geocache sites; then begin your own Geocaching adventure! Join in on the fun, Thursday, April 8, or Wednesday, April 21.

Pet Vet Blast Off! Physics of Flight

You can learn a lot by taking care of a pet! Brownies, join us, Helicopters! Airplanes! Rockets! Flying Saucers! Friday, April 16, for a virtual field trip to a veterinarian’s office. How do these heavy metal objects manage to fly?

Make crafts, play games, and pretend to take care of a pet to Daisies and Brownies, learn the secrets of flight, Sunday, April 18. demonstrate what you’ve learned. It's a physics and engineering lesson all rolled into a fun afternoon!
