Le précédent, Shallow Life est sorti il y a 3 ans. Don GILMORE est de nouveau à la production, qui est d'une qualité et d'une propreté clinique. Cristina SCABBIA a toujours sa voix si envoutante, calme puis puissante. En revanche, la voix d'Andrea FERRO rappelle par moment celle de Deryck WHIBLEY de SUM 41. Les joutes vocales entre les deux chanteurs (qui a dit entre la Belle et la Bête ?) sont de retour pour notre plus grand plaisir. Dark Adrenaline est plus puissant que son prédécesseur. Les guitares y sont beaucoup plus présentes. Les chansons sont accrocheuses et les refrains entêtants. Il y a plusieurs tubes en puissance : Kill The Light, Gimme Something More, I Don't Believe In Tomorrow et le superbe Intoxicated. Ce qui m'a le moins plu sur ce disque, c'est la reprise de Losing My Religion de REM, qui est pour moi le maillon faible de l'album. Les avis vont être partagés pour cette chanson, chacun ses goûts. La durée de la plupart des titres est calibrée pour être diffusé à la radio. Sauf le superbe My Spirit qui clos l'album et dépasse les 5 minutes. Ce titre qui lorgne vers le rock progressif reprend l'atmosphère des premiers album du groupe. Est-ce un clin d'oeil au passé ? Ou est ce que LACUNA COIL va écrire des titres plus longs et épiques pour ses prochains disques ? Dark Adrenaline est le meilleur album de LACUNA COIL depuis Comalies (2002). C'est un excellent disque pour bien commencer l'année. 2012 est un bon millésime pour le rock mélodique et nous promets quelques pépites, dont ce nouveau LACUNA COIL. Je persiste à croire que LACUNA COIL n'est pas encore au sommet de son art. Le groupe a encore énormément de potentiel et risque de nous surprendre agréablement dans le futur.
