FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 3, 2018 COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS ASSIGN FORWARD ZAC DALPE AND DEFENSEMAN DEAN KUKAN TO AHL’S CLEVELAND MONSTERS COLUMBUS, OHIO --- The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned forward Zac Dalpe and defenseman Dean Kukan to the Cleveland Monsters, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. Dalpe, 28, made his Blue Jackets debut on Oct. 6 vs. the New York Islanders and has registered 13 penalty minutes in 10 games this season. He has also tallied one goal and six assists for seven points with 21 penalty minutes and an “even” plus/minus rating in 12 games with Cleveland. He has notched 12-12-24 and 36 penalty minutes in 138 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, Minnesota Wild, Buffalo Sabres, Vancouver Canucks and Carolina Hurricanes since making his NHL debut in 2010-11. The Paris, Ontario native has added 98-99-197, 119 penalty minutes and is +8 in 282 career AHL games with the Monsters, Iowa Wild, Rochester Americans, Utica Comets, Charlotte Checkers and Albany River Rats. Claimed off waivers by Columbus from Minnesota on Feb. 27, 2017, Dalpe was originally Carolina’s second round pick, 45th overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft. Kukan, 24, who was recalled by the Jackets on December 26, has posted 1-11-12 and 18 penalty minutes in 27 games with the Monsters. He has registered 8-46-54 and 69 penalty minutes in 132 career AHL games with the Monsters since 2015-16 when he helped the club capture the Calder Cup championship. A native of Volketswil, Switzerland, he was signed by the Blue Jackets as a free agent in June 2015. He has a +9 plus/minus rating in eight career NHL games, all of which came during the 2015-16 season. The Blue Jackets return to action Thursday when they visit the Colorado Avalanche.
