Columbus Blue Jackets Assign Forward Zac Dalpe and Defenseman Dean Kukan to Ahl’S Cleveland Monsters FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 3, 2018 COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS ASSIGN FORWARD ZAC DALPE AND DEFENSEMAN DEAN KUKAN TO AHL’S CLEVELAND MONSTERS COLUMBUS, OHIO --- The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned forward Zac Dalpe and defenseman Dean Kukan to the Cleveland Monsters, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. Dalpe, 28, made his Blue Jackets debut on Oct. 6 vs. the New York Islanders and has registered 13 penalty minutes in 10 games this season. He has also tallied one goal and six assists for seven points with 21 penalty minutes and an “even” plus/minus rating in 12 games with Cleveland. He has notched 12-12-24 and 36 penalty minutes in 138 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, Minnesota Wild, Buffalo Sabres, Vancouver Canucks and Carolina Hurricanes since making his NHL debut in 2010-11. The Paris, Ontario native has added 98-99-197, 119 penalty minutes and is +8 in 282 career AHL games with the Monsters, Iowa Wild, Rochester Americans, Utica Comets, Charlotte Checkers and Albany River Rats. Claimed off waivers by Columbus from Minnesota on Feb. 27, 2017, Dalpe was originally Carolina’s second round pick, 45th overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft. Kukan, 24, who was recalled by the Jackets on December 26, has posted 1-11-12 and 18 penalty minutes in 27 games with the Monsters. He has registered 8-46-54 and 69 penalty minutes in 132 career AHL games with the Monsters since 2015-16 when he helped the club capture the Calder Cup championship. A native of Volketswil, Switzerland, he was signed by the Blue Jackets as a free agent in June 2015. He has a +9 plus/minus rating in eight career NHL games, all of which came during the 2015-16 season. The Blue Jackets return to action Thursday when they visit the Colorado Avalanche. Game time from the Pepsi Center is 9 p.m. ET. (AP) — Buffalo Sabres forward Cody McCormick has been released from the hospital after being treated for having a blood clot in his leg. Coach Ted Nolan said following practice Monday that McCormick is recuperating at home. Nolan called it a good sign, but cautioned there is no timetable for the player's return. McCormick was hospitalized over the weekend after the clot was discovered. He scored his first goal of the season in a 2-1 loss at Tampa Bay on Friday. The Sabres called up forwards Phil Varone and Zac Dalpe from their AHL affiliate in Rochester. Dalpe has yet to play for the Sabres since signing with the team last summer. Varone is back in Buffalo after playing three games last week. Buffalo hosts Detroit on Tuesday night. The team also announced today it has recalled forward Zac Dalpe from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). Carter, 33 (8/3/83), skated in three games with the Iowa Wild (AHL) after signing a professional tryout agreement (PTO) on Feb. 18. He tallied 12 points (7-5=12) and 48 penalty minutes (PIM) in 60 regular season games with Minnesota last season and skated in two Stanley Cup Playoff contests. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound native of White Bear Lake, Minn., led the team in PIM and ranked fourth in hits with 87, his most since the 2011-12 season. Carter also recorded a career-high 37 blocked shots. He has totaled 93 points (41-52=93) and 444 PIM in 473 career games during nine NHL seasons with Anaheim, Carolina, Florida, New Jersey and Minnesota. Carter has collected 12 points (7-5=12) and 48 PIM in 46 playoff games and won a Stanley Cup with the Anaheim Ducks in 2007. He played two seasons at Minnesota State University – Mankato (2004-06) before signing as a free agent with the Ducks on July 12, 2006.

(AP) — The NHL has fined Buffalo Sabres goalie Michal Neuvirth $2,000 for diving and embellishment after drawing a penalty in a game against the Nashville Predators last weekend. The disciplinary action announced on Wednesday was a second offense for Neuvirth. The first offense merited a warning, and occurred during a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Nov. 15. Fines increase with each instance up to $5,000 following a fifth offense. The punishment came after the league's Hockey Operations Department reviewed an interference penalty called against Nashville's Mike Santorelli early in the second period of the Predators' 2-1 shootout win. In a separate move, Buffalo returned rookie defenseman Jake McCabe to AHL Rochester. The Sabres had the day off, and host Vancouver on Thursday. Canucks-Sabres preview Associated Press February 25, 2015 Buffalo will have to wait until next season to welcome Ryan Miller back to town. It might also be that long before Sabres All-Star Zemgus Girgensons sees the ice again. With both injured, Miller's surging Vancouver Canucks look to conclude an already successful five-game trip with a third straight victory Thursday night against Buffalo. Miller made 20 saves in a 5-2 win over the Sabres (18-38-5) on Jan. 30, but won't be available in his first trip to Buffalo since the club traded him to St. Louis one year ago Sunday.
