Contemporary Color Print Editions Contemporary! Color ! Print Editions March, 2015 Note: All listed editions are twenty (20) archival pigment prints, printed between 2011 and the present. About Harold Feinstein Harold Feinstein was born in Coney Island, New York, in 1931 and began his photography career in 1946 at the age of 15. When he was 17, he joined the Photo League. At 19, Edward Steichen purchased his work for the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art. He is best known for his six-decade love affair with Coney Island as well as traditional street photography and photos from the Korean War. In addition to small camera black and white, Feinstein has a large collection of 35mm and digital color imagery. In 1998, Feinstein broke new ground as one of the pioneers of scanography, for which he was awarded the Computerworld Smithsonian Award in 2000. His most recent of eight books, Harold Feinstein: A Retrospective (Nazraeli, 2012) was a winner of the PDN Photo Annual 2013 Photo Book award. His photographs have been exhibited in and are represented in the permanent collections of major museums including MOMA, International Center of Photography, George Eastman House, Center for Creative Photography, The Jewish Museum and Museum of the City of New York. In 2011, he received the Living Legend Award from The Griffin Museum of Photography. In 1951, Randall began studying with renowned photographer Harold Feinstein, an artist known for his black-and-white documentary photography. The following year, Randall worked as a freelance photographer for a variety of media organizations, including "Black Star," United Press International and the Associated Press. In 1963, Randall founded an African American photographer’s International and the Associated Press. In 1963, Randall founded an African American photographer’s workshop, called the Kamoinge Workshop, in New York City, New York, alongside established photographers Lou Draper, Ray Francis, James Mannas, Herman Howard and Albert Fenner. In 1964, Randall received a John Hay Whitney Fellowship and was encouraged by Sanford R. Leigh, the Director of Mississippi Freedom Summer's Hattiesburg project, to photograph the effects of the Civil Rights Movement in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Randall photographed volunteers in a variety of projects, including the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party campaign and voter registration drives. One of Randall’s most famous photographs was published that summer, the photo of the bloody and concussed Rabbi Arthur Lelyveld, head of a prominent Cleveland Congregation and former World War II objector. Randall returned to New York in 1965, and served as supervisor of photography for Bedford Stuyvesant Youth In Action, Inc.

Interview by Nadine Dinter loeildelaphotographie.com/en/whats-new-joseph-rodriguez-interview-by-nadine-dinter-dv Nadine Dinter April 16, 2021 The American photographer Joseph Rodriguez (*1951, Brooklyn/USA) is a legend when it comes to street photography, particularly his arresting images of Latinx Communities in the United States, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. Drawn to the social documentary style, he sought out photography in an attempt to challenge stereotypes and expose the world to truthful portraits of American struggle. People are at the heart of his work, which often emerges after lengthy periods of time spent gaining the trust of his subjects. The results are raw and gritty images that are full of life, revealing the resilience and beauty of the people he portrays. While he officially started taking pictures in the 1980s, his legendary series TAXI. Journey Through My Windows: 1977–1987 marks the very beginning of his photographic career. In these images he gives us slices of life in New York City, taken on the fly from behind the wheel of his cab, as a calm witness to a candid moment. This decade of images laid the groundwork for the insightful, humanistic style that brought Rodriguez widespread acclaim in the decades to come.     The PHOTO REVIEW NEWSLETTER July / August 2020 BLACK LIVES MATTER Black Lives Matter. This is an indisputable statement. Around the world, murders of Black people by police and vigilantes have inspired uprisings, rage, despair, and demands for systemic change. While these demands often focus on the injustices of the government, non-Black people should all be asking ourselves what systems we are a part of and how we might influ- ence these systems to be part of necessary change. As you well know, I am the editor of The Photo Review. As you might know, I am a white, cisgender, straight man, old enough to be in the at-risk group during this pan- demic. Inhabiting these places of privilege, I consider it particularly important for me to ask myself what my place is in this struggle. My family is Jewish — my father and his family were immigrants escaping pogroms in Russia, and the reality of the Holocaust was ever present in my childhood. I do not com- pare these experiences with those of Black Americans — rather, I want to express that I see my fight against various forms of white supremacy on a very personal level. I know I must use what privilege I have to work toward the implementation of the values of the Black Lives Matter movement.
