POSITION AVAILABLE ANNOUNCEMENT CITY OF PARKERSBURG Information Technology Administrator

DEPARMTENT: DIVISION: Information Technology GRADE: S-6A Exempt $50,738/yr

Reports Directly to the Finance Director.

JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the of all technology of the City including network administration, technical support, data management, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system administration.

RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1) Project the IT infrastructural needs, changes, and additions for short-term and long-term goals and objectives of the City. 2) Ensure an appropriate and effective disaster recovery plan is in effect and current. 3) Develop cost-savings measures that improve efficiencies in operations, data usage and output, and optimal use of hardware. 4) Determine needs on a departmental and City-wide level and facilitate communication regarding service and warranties for purchased and leased assets. 5) Manage support contracts with vendors and facilitate communication regarding service and warranties for purchased and leased assets. 6) Serve as network administrator to endure proper connectivity for data and voice commands. 7) Continual evaluation of network configuration and performance to maintain optimal network solutions in an evolving environment. 8) Ensure the security of network resources in terms of data and hardware accessibility and physical security. 9) Serve as email administrator for the City to include installations, updates, spam filtering, and client-based software maintenance. 10) Firewall administration including connectivity, intrusion, and network traffic monitoring. 11) Manage and maintain the City’s personal computers, laptops, network hardware, phone terminals, copier/printers and other peripherals. 12) Evaluate the necessity of potential programming needs of the City to improve or add upon existing software solutions. 13) Continuous evaluation of data volume and the storage capacity necessary for efficient allocation and usage. 14) Establishment, execution, and testing of data backup and recovery procedures to ensure minimal loss of productivity. 15) Serve as the ERP administrator to include security, setup and maintenance, and user administration.

16) Ensure proper use of the ERP system for processing transactions for data accumulation and output. 17) Perform troubleshooting procedures and coordinates with hardware and software support group to find solutions to various hardware and systematic processing issues. 18) Facilitate training and support programs for departmental updating of website information. 19) Monitor website information to ensure all information presented is current and relevant. 20) Participate in steering committee activities to continually improve upon the technological position of the City. 21) Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management or Computer Information Systems with four years of experience, or an equivalency of demonstrated training and experience. Experience in troubleshooting various networking, hardware, and programming issues. experience preferred.
